Peaceful Shore

Hi everyone.  Today's card is for SCS Featured Stamper Challenge (FS308 - Cook22 - Sabrina).  The challenge is to look through Sabrina's gallery of cards on SCS, and pick one to CASE (copy and share everything).  Sabrina's gallery is full of beautiful cards and I had a hard time picking one to CASE, but settled on this peaceful card.  I haven't done a scene card for quite some time, so I had a lot of fun today. :)

Stamps:  Peaceful Shore (Clear Dollar Stamps)
Paper:  Whisper White, Crumb Cake (SU!)
Ink:  So Saffron, Pumpkin Pie, Regal Rose, Baja Breeze, Tempting Turquoise, Basic Gray, Soft Suede, More Mustard, Crumb Cake, Old Olive
Accessories & Tools:  post-it notes for masking, sponges, Crystal Effects, Clear Stickles, glue, and dimensionals

I used a couple of different techniques.  Because I was using a digital image, I sized it on my computer and printed it onto computer paper.  Then I sponged the background onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock, using a post-it note to first mask the lower part of the card, sponging So Saffron, Pumpkin Pie and Regal Rose onto the "sky".  Then I moved the mask to cover the sky that I had just finished, and then sponged Baja Breeze and Tempting Turquoise for the sea.  I then lined up my sponged cardstock on top of my printed image, so that the horizon line matched.  I taped the cardstock in place on top of my computer image and ran it through the printer again, adding the image on top of my sponging.  It was an experiment that worked out so well!  Will definitely be doing that again!

I then printed the image twice more, once on Crumb Cake cardstock, and once on Whisper White cardstock.  I cut out the Crumb Cake piece for the bottom, including the sand, post and grass (I then colored the grass with a Stampin' Write marker).  I cut out the boat sails, bird, shells, and "surf" from the white cardstock.  I added more sponging to the pieces before gluing them on top of my sponged background (this is basically paper piecing, but with a twist).  Oh, and I added Crystal Effects to the shells to give them dimension and shine before adhering to the card.  Finally I added clear stickles to the "surf".

Here's a close-up of the post and bird:
