Watercolored Roses

Hi everyone ... and a special "Hi" to Donna! :)  I'm really on a watercoloring kick these days.  Love this technique (marker layering) using watercolor paper and my Stampin' Write markers.  I've had this stamp for a long time, but never seemed to be able to get it to work for me until today.  It's a very large image, but I wanted it framed, so I cut around 1/2 of the bottom rose, a little of the top rose and about 1/2 of the bud and then pulled them to the front of the frame.  It gives the image more of a 3-D effect and I'm so happy with how it turned out.  And I used the colors from this week's Color Challenge (CC426 - certainly celery, bermuda bay, regal rose) at SCS.

Stamps:  Roses (Rubber-Art Stamps), A Word for You (SU!)
Paper:  Watercolor (Arches)
Ink:  Staz-on Black, Certainly Celery, Bermuda Bay, Regal Rose (SU!)
Accessories & Tools:  Big Shot, Square Nestabilities (Spellbinders), blender pen, crystal effects, and sticky strips

The image was stamped with Staz-on ink onto watercolor paper and then colored using the marker layering technique.  I sponged around the inside edge of the square frame to give it definition.

If you look really closely, you might see that there are raindrops on the roses and leaves, so I added a little crystal effects on each drop for added interest (can't see in the photo).

Here's a close-up:

You really make the most of a stamp, sensational how you cut it to pop out of the frame.

Wonderfully done Loll, this came out so very pretty. I can't wait to get organized, I went into my craft room today intending to make at least 3 cards and got NONE made, ended up doing more cleaning and organizing, I have to get ready, my daughter stopped by last night late after her 2nd job and told me she would come help me finish and organize and clean up the last of it on Friday, so I am trying to get done what I can before she comes on Friday, I want to do so much and I just can't do any lifting, it is rough when your body can't do what you mind and heart want to!!! I really HOPE to get back to creating next week, in the mean time I will keep coming here to visit my friend Loll to get inspired!!! And with you creations that is not very hard, your work is so very pretty!! Thanks bunches!

Big hugs Loll
Donna

Love any rose stamp. You've done a beautiful rendition of these, almost want to reach out & take a smell! I hope you have this particular technique of marker layering in your tutorials, cause I'm off to look for it.... Simply gorgeous and made into a lovely card. TFS

WOW! Cutting parts of the flowers out of the box is a wonderful idea! Your watercoloring was great but it keeps getting better and better! You are such an inspiration!

Lolly, once again you are a star in my book of inspirations! I have a few really large floral stamps that always seem like just too much for a card and it never occurred to me to cut them and back them with a frame. You're a genius at thinking and a genius at water coloring!! xxoo Dolly

Loll, again you outdo yourself. Your use of the markers is sheer genius. I have tried the marker watercolor technique but have some trouble with it. I use the watercolor crayons and blender pens and get a similar effect. I will continue to try to master the markers! Inspiration flows from you. Smiling . . . Sarah
