Oh Happy Day

Hi everyone.  Back with another card from my stenciling class.  I made this late yesterday, but just had time to post now.  I've been working my way through Day 3 of the course and will hopefully have some more cards to share with you either later today or tomorrow.

This is stamping within a stencil.  And this is a CASE of the beautiful card by Kristina Werner (one of the instructors).  I happened to have a splatter stencil similar to Kristina and so here's my card.  I made a couple of versions.  The first had the sentiment embossed in white and then the sponging was overtop - it looks great until I decided to add a gray shadow (same as Kristina) and it went downhill from there.  I think maybe part of my sentiment was too small lettering to add the shadow.  So I made a second version and just stamped the sentiment at the end in black - worked well.  :)  One of the other problems I encountered, was getting a clean stamping of the pattern within the splatters ... for some reason the thin ridge from the stencil caused a bit of a problem.  I took my clear stamps off the acrylic block, inked them and then pressed them down with my fingers - worked much better.  If I had one of those stamp presses ... that probably would have worked really well.

There are a couple more techniques from Day 2's lessons, but I have already moved on to Day 3 because it was the techniques I was most interested in.  Today's lessons are all about embossing paste.  I'm having so much fun experimenting!! :)  Since it is a bit messy, I decided to get a bunch of different card fronts started and I have five sitting drying right now.  Not sure how they will translate into cards yet, but excited to play some more this afternoon.

Edited to Add:  I'm entering this into the ATS&M Challenge (#79 - CAS).

Stamps:  Sunny Sentiments (Amy R); BBD3 (border stamps from Annabelle Stamps)
Paper:  White (Neenah); Whisper White (SU!)
Ink:  Daffodil Delight, Tangerine Tango, Melon Mambo, Rich Razzleberry (SU!)
Accessories & Tools:  Splatter Stencil (Crafter's Workshop), sponges

This turned out fantastic, Loll! Love the colors and the great patterns you've used! Yes, I've been playing with this technique and it's definitely easier to stamp with your fingers so to speak...

Fabulous card Loll. I'm looking forward to trying some classes one day, it looks like so many great techniques are covered. Have fun with the embossing paste. I recently bought some more Dreamweaver stencils that have yet to get dirty LOL! Cathy x

Looks like you're having lots of fun, Loll! I love this and like the sentiment better in black. Love these splotches and think I'll be looking for this stencil. Can't wait to see the next round!

Hi Loll, enjoying seeing your homework. My plan to work on homework today, got changed by Mr. Life (and me burning something badly in the microwave last evening!). Just saw this same lesson at another blog, and yours is so bright & cheery too. If you're looking for a very good stamp press, try Bonnie's Best. A little pricey, but well worth it. I have the Fiskars clear one, and it can't hold a candle to Bonnie's. (you can google it, and I also have her Genesis cutter...another well worth it purchase). Good for you in keeping pace & doing so fantastic in this class. Good thing it is Lifetime! I'm scurrying to get to where I can sit down & enjoy the class without having to 'hurry through'. Can't wait to see the paste work. TFS & Hugs

What a fun card! I actually have a quite similar stencil, I should put it to use! I know what you mean about the stamp press: I watch a lot of Kristina's youtube videos and always drool over it! The colors and your stamping looks great here. xx

Fabulous card, Loll! Love the texture. I know what you mean about pieces drying - I've got loads drying waiting to be made into cards. Once you get the paste out, there's no point stopping at one!
