Watercolour Splash Daisies

Hi everyone.  Quick post today.  I wasn't planning on being in the studio today.  I had scheduled a day of cleaning the house -- boring! :)  But when I saw THIS BEAUTIFUL CARD from OH Babs, I had to pull out my same daisy stamp.  Thanks for the inspiration Babs! :)

I used a Splash Watercolour background (done in antique linen and brushed corduroy distress inks) ... this time using mixed media paper.  Click HERE to see my video tutorial on this easy and fun watercolour background technique. :)  It worked great with the mixed media paper, just need to use a LOT less water then when using watercolour paper. :)

Then I used watercolour spritz technique to stamp my daisies.  I inked up the daisy stamp with my distress inks, lightly sprayed with water and then stamped over top of my dried, splash watercolour background.  Stamped the sentiment and voila, card was done.

Hope you are all having a great weekend!

Stamps: Upsy Daisy (SU!); Heartfeld (Penny Black)
Paper:  White card base (110 lb. Neenah Solar White); Mixed Media paper (Strathmore 400 series)
Ink:  Distress Inks:  Antique Linen, Brushed Corduroy, Peeled Paint, Spiced Marmalade, Ripe Persimmon, Picked Raspberry, Vintage Photo (Tim Holtz)
Accessories & Tools:  water mister

Beautiful floral card. I'm a fairly new fan of your work but I lost no time in CASE'ing some of your wonderful cards at Splitcoast and now I've found your blog. You inspired me to scrounge up some ancient copper foil sheets in my stash and emboss it and it LOVE the look of it. I've created several cards with it. Not as fancy as your heat treatment but it still looks great! I've got one up on my blog if you want to see. Thank you so much for sharing your art and inspiring less creative papercrafters to stretch their wings. Hugs, Kathy

Beautiful Loll! I am loving your 'splashed' backgrounds, they look really pretty and the way you have used that stamp, looks like an impressionist painting! Have a lovely Sunday! Hazel xx

I LOVE this! The stamp is gorgeous and you've created the perfect background. I really need to give this technique a try 😊 Enjoy what's left of the weekend and leave cleaning the house until Monday ..... or Tuesday maybe 😊 xx

Tried this technique and like it a lot....good way to get background interest but not compete with the image. Plus the Upsy Daisy stamp is one of my fave SU stamps ever...inspires me to get it out...been awhile.

Your craft efforts are way much better than if you spent the day house cleaning! I wouldn't enjoy the results as much! Just saw that you've got this new technique (Miss B has a link, and I'm nearly finished visiting, so I can go enjoy). Love the colors you've used in this card and the fab background. So soft, and so pretty too. Forget the cleaning!! Keep on cardmaking & doing tutorials!!! TFS & Have a wonderful week

Just enjoyed the video immensely. Will definitely be trying this - as it looks so easy & yields such a pretty soft background. Thanks for doing the tutorial, and thanks for enunciating so clearly, and keeping everything in the camera view as you work. Excellent video, and loved the background music too! Hugs

Loll I don't think I have ever been CASEd - thank you. Your color choices are great and I will give them a try. I did try your splash watercolor background on some scratch wc paper but have not finished the cards. Always love your videos and your soft kind voice. :)

If it's a snowy day tomorrow like it may be, I'm going to get out my paper and make a lot of these technique background. I just love what you do, Loll, and I haven't done many of these lately. Those orange flowers look beautiful on the splattered background.
