Happy Birthday Mary!

Hi everyone.  Today I'm sharing a birthday card I made for my good friend MaryH (Carolina Cards by MaryH).  Thankfully it arrived in the mail on time. :)  Happy Birthday Mary.  I hope you are having a wonderful day!

I have done a card similar to this before, using the same tulip image done with watercolour spritz technique.  That's where you ink up the image using markers, spritz with water and stamp onto watercolour paper.  Some stamps seem to be perfect with certain techniques ... and this is one of them. This time I included a splash watercoloured background that has lots of colour (click here to see my video tutorial).  I think it compliments the image nicely.

I didn't want to cover any of it up, so used vellum for my sentiment banner.  I added a few sequins for a bit of sparkle.

Hope you enjoyed my card today.  Thanks for coming by for a visit!

Stamps:  Promise Me (Penny Black)
Paper:  White card base (Neenah 110 lb. card stock); Watercoloured panel (Arches 140 lb. cold press); Vellum (Bazzil 40 lb.)
Ink:  Distress inks:  Antique Linen, Brushed Corduroy, Ripe Persimmon, Picked Raspberry, Shabby Shutters, Peeled Paint (Tim Holtz); Versamark
Accessories & Tools:  water mister, white embossing powder, heat tool, sequins

Yes the background technique and look compliments the tulip with it's watery look just perfectly and the colours are gorgeous. I still don't think to use vellum and I really must. Thank you for the inspiration x

Loll, Love the splash with the watercolor type stamp! You do come up with some of the greatest techniques and your supply list is getting me in trouble (grin). The torn vellum is the perfect addition for the sentiment. What gorgeous colors!

Thank you for the birthday shoutout. The card did arrive in time, and is even more lovely IRL than it photographs (which is pretty good too!). It DID make my day - it's heartwarming to know friends use their talent and make something to cheer your day. Big thanks, big Hugs.

So pretty Loll! As a lucky recipient of some of your wonderful creations, I KNOW that Mary is smiling from ear to ear! I must give that technique a try, I had forgotten about it! Thank you for the reminder! Sorry I haven't been around much since my return, but, now, on top of all the usual things to catch up on, apart from the fact that my 90 year old mother's kitchen ceiling had come down and needed to get sorted out, we are VERY limited broadband and no land-line, as, the water-board company cut through the telephone cable, when they had to repair a water pipe!! Have a wonderful day my friend! Hazel xx

I think I need to make me a list of techniques to try out! lol I really love the colors on this card Loll, it is just so stunning like always. Wish I could rub your elbow to get some of your talent to rub off on me. lol Hugs, Brenda
