New Technique created by Karen

Hi everyone.  Today I'm sharing a new techniques created by my dear friend, Karen (Snippets).  Click on the link to see her latest cards using this fun technique.

She is hosting the TLC (Try A New Technique) Challenge #640 at Splitcoast Stampers (SCS) this week, so I'm playing along.

This also works for today's SCS CAS Challenge #431 - Backgrounds, hosted by Kia. I'm playing along there too! :)

I used an old gift card and three colours of Distress Oxides to create the background.  I then used white acrylic paint to create the cross lines.  I framed it up, added a die-cut sprig, and stamped a sentiment.

Thanks for stopping by.

Stamps:  Many Everyday Messages (Hero Arts)
Paper:  White (Neenah 110 lb. card stock)
Ink:  Distress Oxides:  Cracked Pistachio, Broken China, Wilted Violet (Tim Holtz); Smoky Slate (SU!)
Accessories & Tools:  old gift card, water mister, Rectangle Nestabilities (Spellbinders), Beach Sprig die (Memory Box)

Challenges:
SCS TLC Challenge #640 - Swipe your credit card
SCS CAS Challenge #431 - Backgrounds

I LOVE your gift card swiped background, Loll. Your DOX inks colors are such a soft and pretty color combo. Your CAS design is perfect for the technique. TFS my friend. I plan to play along in a couple of days. Hugs..

Loll this is exquisite. Love your background colours, and how you let it shine through with the simple but elegant die cut.

Beautiful as always Loll ..... love your colour choice. I've used the credit card technique to add lines before but not to colour the whole background ..... guess what I'll be trying later in the week xx

Oooh Loll, I love this!!!
Just popped over to Karen's, told her she's one clever vegemite, so glad she shared how she did it.
I'm gonna have to wait a while as two colours of oxides only but might try a substitute with what I have.. necessity is the mother of invention... think someone said. ;-)

Yours turned out beautiful, Loll. I tried it when I first saw Karen's but missed the detail about Bristol and it doesn't work quite as well on Neenah but I still have a decent background. Now I need to make it into a card.

When I read your description, how did you make the card I thought "butter cake" ... but in fact it is certainly much harder. I used to have to try :-) Great technique and wonderful card. I love her colors, you are a champion in color combinations.
