CASEing Linda

Hi everyone.  Today's card is a CASE of a card made by my dear friend, Linda (Life in the Craft Lane).  Linda is so talented and loves to play with all kinds of different mixed media products.  I have learned so much for her over the past three years. Thank you Linda!!

I loved the soft colours of her alcohol ink background.  Most of my AI backgrounds tend to be very bright and bold.  This time I used a different colour combination which included a few softer colours.  I love how it turned out.  I heat embossed my image in gold (same as Linda), and also stamped the sentiment so that it was across the main panel and the card base.  It turned out great and I love this design detail. The hard part was photographing it so that the word "smile" looked lined up.  It is lined up in real life, but the camera does love to play tricks. :)

I know that it's a no-no to heat emboss Yupo, but I just did quick passes over top of the stamping with my heat tool so that the yupo didn't buckle.  It takes a little bit of time, but worked well.

I hope you like my CASE of Linda's gorgeous card.  If you don't know Linda, make sure to check out her blog (Life in the Craft Lane).  She makes amazing cards and also shares her how to's on working with all kinds of products and techniques.  I know you'll be glad you stopped by to see her!

This will be my second entry for Darnell's NBUS Challenge #12.  This is the first time using this flower stamp and sentiment stamp. :)  Thanks Darnell for this fun challenge!!

  10. You always achieve such a beautiful marbled effect with alcohol inks instead of the blobs I tend to get with the metallic. This is so beautiful and love the sentiment partially stamped and embossed off the panel. That is not easy to do with a layer on there!

  13. Your beautiful panel is as stunning as they ever are Loll! I love the gold embossing on it too, and as you say, that sentiment running over the two layers is a fabulous technique, and in the gold, really adds the WOW factor! Have a great day my friend! Love & Hugs. Hazel xx

Thanks for the CASE, and the mention .... I feel very honoured.
I'm always inspired after visiting your blog .... in fact if it wasn't for you my friend my alcohol inks wouldn't get the use they do now.
    Enjoy your weekend xx

  18. Love the soft colors of your background! I also associate AI backgrounds with bright colors but really like how this came out! That combined with the gold embossed flower and sentiment sliding off the background make this card fabulous!

  19. I have such a picture in my head when the colors in the water mix together, creating amazing smudges of fog of color ( in Polish niesamowite smugi mgły koloru). Your background is taken out of my memories of this image. Is it a mystery to me as you enter my head Loll? Beautiful, airy, stunning card.
