Alcohol Inks and foil

Hi everyone.  I haven't been feeling well for about a week now.  Most days I can manage to do a few things, but for three days this week I have felt pretty bad.  At least I had the energy to get dressed today!  :)  Hopefully that's a sign of better times ahead.   I thought since I was a bit better today, I'd see if I could make a quick card ... and I did.

I played the other day with alcohol inks, adding transfer foil to the sticky bits after the majority of my panel was dry.  I find that if I add too much ink, it pools and creates dark outlines on my pieces that don't completely dry.  I watched a video by someone who used the opportunity to add foil to cover up the sticky bits.  What a clever idea.  Sorry, can't remember who it was that started this, but it has become popular and there are now several videos done by others.

Edited to Add:  Got a prompt from Darnell that it was Kelly Latevola's video I watched on this technique.  Click HERE to take a look.  Thanks to Kelly for this fabulous idea!

Anyways, it worked really well and I ended up with a pretty alcohol ink panel with lots of shine from the gold foil.  Just so happens that this week's Just Us Girls challenge is Alcohol Inks (hosted by my friend Bobby).  So I wanted to play along.

It was quick to make this into a card since the panel was already made.  I added two die-cuts (flower stem and sentiment) that are both from AliExpress, and cut from white paper.

Here's a close-up ...
I hope you'll come play along with this fun challenge.  It's open for three more days.

Stamps:  None
Paper:  Yupo; White cardstock (110 lb. from Michaels)
Ink:  Alcohol Inks:  Wild Plum (Ranger); Senorita Magenta, Sunshine Bright (Pinata)

I hope your feeling better Loll, no time to be feeling sick. Its Summer over there isn't it? The time of year to be sitting back, relaxing and enjoying, not feeling crap and yuck so perk up sweet friend. Your card is wonderful, Ive been busy making swatches of my alcohol inks so the next step is alcohol and gold foil at last. Do love the depth of that colour you have used.

Oh goodness, so sorry to hear you aren't feeling great. I do hope you are back to yourself very soon. You are dedicated to want to create a card even when you aren't feeling super. The card you created is lovely, too. I've seen this technique a few times as well and really like the look. Your colors are beautiful on the alcohol inked panel. The bit of floral really makes it shine. Thanks so much for sharing. Feel better! Hugs.

Beautiful, BEAUTIFUL card Loll! I've had the same problem with too much Al ink making sticky portions and what a great idea to add the foil to it...can't wait to try it out! But anyway, love the look of the gold with all that red...SO rich looking and a perfect backdrop for your lovely flower and sentiment! Hope today you're feeling even better and continue to mend...no fun to be sick when there's stamping to be done!! Take care my friend!! :0)

That gold foil on the red background is so beautiful. Another thing new to me and I want to try. There are just not enough hours in the day to just play. Stupid meals and laundry. I hope you are feeling so much better now and trying more new things for us to try!

Kylie made a breakthrough discovery by masking sticky spots with gold foil. It allows you to create an even more beautiful alcohol background ink. And your background reminds me of China - such a beautiful deep red and gold. The perfect combination. White flowers beautifully pop into the foreground.
Loll, I hope you already feel very good and that it was a momentary collapse of form. I hope your results are good. I have you in my prayers, my dearest friend.
Hugs,
BożenA
