Pink Peonies

Hi everyone.  I love peonies ... and I love pink. :)

I am entering a couple of challenges at Splitcoast which inspired me to make this card.  One is asking for my favourite flower.  Well, that is lilies, but I just posted a lily card a few days ago.  So I gave it some thought, and honestly, I couldn't choose my "second" favourite.  I LOVE all flowers!  When I saw the peonies in the inspiration photo challenge, I was hooked. :)

This is an older stamp (Blooming Bunch - Studio Katia) that I've had for a long time.  I really shows all the wonderful layers that peonies have.  I stamped in black, heat embossed in clear, and then watercoloured with distress inks.  I die-cut the image and then split it into two pieces to make two CAS cards. :)  To finish the cards, I die-cut the center, leaving a thin white frame.  Popped image up against the edge of the frame and then popped up the card front with foam to add a little extra dimension.  I was happy with how it turned out, so I finished the second card the same way. :)

Second card using the other half of the image ...

  1. Oh my, yes Loll! Peonies are also a favorite of mine! As for growing them, I really don't have great luck with them in my current living situation - too cold, too wet, too dry or just a brown thumb? This could be why I love every peony stamp I see - and your gorgeous cards today! I love them peeking into my world today!

  11. That is a wonderful stamp with the peonies Loll, and they are so big and blousy but such a shame that the flowers only last a very short time, well, ours which we had in an previous garden..they bloomed about now and a month to six weeks later they had finished, but perhaps there are other varieties that bloom for longer. I love the pretty pink and the fresh green of the leaves and the thin rectangular frame around the aperture shows them off beautifully on both cards, and a very stylish font for the two different sentiments which are lovely. x

  12. Oh, so beautiful with the peonies peeking from behind the frame, as though they're growing through a fence. Not one, but two amazing cards from one stamping. How I love the pop of color against all the clean white!

  16. Peonies are such amazing flowers and your pretty pink coloring really brings out those gorgeous layers, Lolly! I'm glad the I.D.E.A.S. Calendar inspired you and now you've inspired ME because I love how you split the image into two beautiful CAS cards! I have a few of the bigger bouquet images that will work great split in two. Mwah! Hugs, Dolly

  18. Yes, pink peonies are stunning, and their fragrance is simply amazing. Looking at your flowers, I feel like I can smell them too. Splitting the image and creating two cards is brilliant. I love how you framed the flowers on the card. A window framed by a thin border, from which these gorgeous flowers emerge... These are truly two amazing cards, my dear Loll.
    hugs,
    BozenA xx
