Watercolor Class Day 1 (cont'd)

Hi everyone.  Today's card is more from Day 1 of my class (yesterday).  We were shown three different techniques for watercolored backgrounds and I only managed to get one done that I was happy enough to post.  So even though there are three more techniques for w/c backgrounds in today's class, I'm still working on Day 1.  Already falling behind! :)

I tried this technique yesterday without any success.  Today it worked ... not sure why, but I'll take it! :)  This is a background technique shown by Laura Bassen and I love the vibrant colors.  I wanted the background to be the star, so added a die-cut "happy mother's day" and frame and that was it.  No other embellishments for this CAS card.

As I mentioned before, I didn't have good outcomes yesterday and many pieces ended up in the garbage.  This morning, when I looked through my garbage bin (yes ... I have no shame and went digging through my garbage this morning to take another look at my discarded w/c pieces) :) ... I did salvage one piece using the third technique and even though there are parts that didn't work, I might be able to cut it down and use it as a smaller piece.  Hopefully I'll be able to turn this rescued piece into a card. :)

I'm entering this into the following challenges:  Paper Players #194 - Mother; ATS&M #94 - CAS, and Simon Says Anything Goes.

On another note, I know that many of you may have heard of the huge problems with Feedburner.  I have lost several of my subscribers over the past several weeks ... Feedburner has dropped the ball!  I'm sorry if you haven't been receiving my updates regularly and I'm looking into changing my subscription service and hope to have that done shortly.  I'm not sure of the procedure, but there may be some overlap and wanted to warn you in case you end up receiving a double post at some point.  Thanks for sticking with me! :)

  6. Another beauty, Lolly!! I just did a post and mentioned Feedburner, too. Is there no solution? Are they just gone forever? That really stinks, if so! Keep us posted on what you decide and thank you! Hugs, Dolly

  7. Wow,love these vivid water colors Loll! That background sure takes center stage and then to have the vivid white sentiment, well it is just a stunning card! A lot of people have been having the same problem with Feedburner. Here is what she did to fix the problem, not sure if it will be a help to you or not.

Subscription to my blog feed has changed. For years I've used Feedburner and the service is no longer being supported. As of today we've changed over to Feedblitz. I don't know about you but I'm really looking forward to everything working again!! If you're currently using Bloglovin or Feedly and are happy with that service you're all set. But if you are not currently receiving my blog posts in your email box ... you can sign up using the brand new box on the right bar. Thank you all for your patience!!! - See more at: http://www.mychicnscratch.com/blog/page/5#sthash.WMXeHSEl.dpuf

  13. So pretty!!! I think I need to get out my watercolors and start messing with them even though I'm not taking this class. I do see watercoloring being used on so many cardmaker's blogs these days.

  14. I'm even further behind - I haven't done this lesson yet! Love the vibrant colours on the background. And I'm glad you rummaged in the bin for your rejects - sometimes they look better the next day.

  16. I think we all have those days where more attempts end up in the waste basket then on the craft desk. I know I have a LOT of those days! Ha! However, I think you absolutely ROCKED this watercolor technique. The background is so cheery and vibrant, especially against the clean, white frame and die cut sentiment. Thank you so much for joining us this week at the Paper Players! :)

  17. Stunning and striking, Loll ... and so perfectly CAS! I recall Jennifer McGuire saying in one of her videos that watercolour work often looks better after a few hours ... your rummage through the paper bin endorses it! Anita :)
