Hi everyone. It's time for a new challenge at Addicted to CAS. This one is being hosted by our very talented and fun-loving, Marie (bailey rosy) ... and she chose this wonderful code word ...
Prize: 3 digital images
I started out by sponging two colours of Distress inks on vellum for the misty sky. Diluted white acrylic paint was splattered over top for the falling snow. I printed off a fun digital image of a snowman, but he seemed too solid white to go with the background, so I printed it off again onto vellum and layered it on top of the white snowman ... love how he has a bit of a misty look as well. His nose and scarf are coloured with Copics, and dots from a white gel pen decorate the scarf. Easy, peasy card.
I loved the look of the sponged sky on vellum so much that I had to make a second card :) This time making it more elegant with a snowy hillside scene and lots of glitter.

ReplyDeleteThe first design would also be really fun as a shaker cards, but of course it would not fit the current challenge theme.
The sponging does look great on the vellum and both cards are stunning. I love all the sparkle on the second x

Oh my gosh Loll, this is so sweet! Love you made windows to put your wintery scenes in, makes it feel so much more 3d, like I'm watching one of those old animated specials on TV. Especially love your snowman, I want to hug him! ha! hugs :)

ReplyDeleteOh Loll, these cards are gorgeous!!! I never thought to sponge distress inks onto vellum - I only tried coloring vellum with copics or watercolors and I didn't get very good results - I need to try this!

I love the coloured vellum and its misty look and your snowman looks fabulous against the gorgeous sky. The second card is glorious with its beautiful tree lined scene and the touch of sparkle is perfect.

ReplyDeleteSwooning...major swooning....The sponged vellum backgrounds are amazing, as is your vellum overlay snowman. As for the village...a place I'd love to visit! I may have to 'chat' with my distress inks, as this seems a do-able (maybe...) technique I may be able to handle! Love these cards!

ReplyDeleteBoth of these are just super lovely. I don't work much with vellum (guess it intimidates me), but the effect you've achieved is very soft & dreamlike. Did you sponge on the front or back side of the vellum? I loved the way you've added the sparkly diecuts on #2, and done the shadowbox effect. I always get such inspiration when I see your techniques. I'm hunting for one of your mixed media cards, where you used the clear gel beads (as I found some!) and want to re-read your process. Someone shared it on FBook or else I might have missed it. Well done on today's card. I loved each one! TFS & Hugs.

ReplyDeleteWow Loll, both of these cards are amazing!! I so love the ink on the vellum, must give that a try sometime. The snowman is so adorable and I love that you put a vellum snowman over top of the white one, really gives him a cool look. Pun intended! lol The second card with this technique is stunning. I love the winter scene you have created and as much as I love seeing the snow, I'm not looking forward to it this winter. I'd rather look at it on your beautiful cards instead! lol Hugs, Brenda
