CAS Watercolour November Challenge

Hi everyone.  Today is the start of the CAS Watercolour November Challenge.  Not only are we starting our second challenge, but we are also welcoming some new design team  members.  We are thrilled to welcome Karen Dunbrook (Snippets) and Harriet Skelly (Ally Cat Cards) to the CAS Watercolour Team.  And we're so happy that Nancy Littrell (scandinancy creates) and Susan Bridgman (Cardmaker's Garret) from CAS Mix Up will be joining us as well.  I'm excited about working with all of you ... we are going to have FUN!! :)

On to the challenge ...

(other than a sentiment)

I ended up with three cards to share with you today. :)

I started by smooshing peacock feathers and twisted citron distress inks onto a piece of mixed media paper.  After adding a couple of layers of colours, I stamped script randomly in the background.  I then stamped the flower image in versamark, heat embossed in white and watercoloured the flowers.

I wasn't happy that the white embossing didn't seem to show up much on the watercoloured background, so I took more citron ink and a wet brush and added in more colour along the stems.  Much better!  I cut the piece in half  and made two CAS Watercoloured cards.  Great way to build my stash! :)

Here's the second card ...

I decided to make a second piece, using the same techniques, colour of inks, stamp, but this time heat embossed with liquid platinum.  The design of the flowers shows up a bit better, but I'm actually really happy with all three cards.  The one below I used the whole piece so you can see what my other piece looked like before I cut it in half. :)

I hope you'll check out the challenge to see the rest of the amazing cards from our design team, and then you'll come join us.  The challenge runs until end of day Nov. 24th.

Remember to keep your cards CAS (Clean and Simple) with Watercolouring and include text (other than a sentiment).

  25. I love all 3! The platinum embossing does look a bit richer, but I like the subtle white embossing very much too. Brilliant idea to add the extra shading along the stems as you did, but I only noticed the difference when I see the 2 together. Each card is just so delicate and I really liked the script behind your flowers too. TFS & hugs
