Peace on Earth

Hi everyone.  Today is the reminder for the June CAS Christmas Challenge - Masculine.  This month's challenge is being hosted by Christine.

I started by using a new embossing folder that I bought recently of birch trees.  I pressed two shades of light blue distress inks onto the inside of the folder, spritzed with a little water and laid a piece of mixed media paper on top.  I closed the folder and ran it through the Big Shot.  This is the background I ended up with.  Love the soft colours of the cold winter's day.

I tore two pieces of heavy white card stock to create my snow hills and adhered them to the background.  The deer was die-cut from a medium brown and the sentiment was stamped in the same colour of brown ink.

Quick and easy card.  So easy, I made four. :)  I made two large backgrounds and then cut them in half to make two cards of two slightly different designs.

Here's a close-up ...
... and here's the second design.
Please check out the challenge blog to see the reminder cards from our talented Designers, and special Guest Designer, Bobby.  There's still one week left to play before the challenge closes on June 24th at midnight (PDST).

  2. Your winter scenes are so beautiful. I do not like winter, but when I look at it, I start to miss the winter. How is this possible? Thank you for sharing this beauty.

  7. Your dry embossing with distress inks turned out so beautifully, Loll! I love the soft shades of the blue too. The mid brown deer is a great color for the light blue and he makes this card looks masculine. The baby deer in the second card is so adorable! Now the background blue looks like it turned into baby blue! Hideko xx

  8. Nice masculine Christmas cards Loll, I love the birch tree embossing folder-I have one too but haven't used it yet. Looks like I need to after seeing how beautiful your cards came out. Love that frosty sky look you got. Birch trees and deer's, can't get any more masculine than that! Hugs, Brenda

  13. We were definitely on the same wavelength, using the same deer on our cards, but I find I often turn to reindeer for a masculine Christmas card. I love your version with the beautiful birch trees and the snowy banks behind him. It definitely is a peaceful scene, so perfect choice of sentiment. Love the other one too with the adorable sweet young deer.

  19. The embossing folder technique worked beautifully for you, Loll. I've tried it with not as successful results. I love birch trees and they are a wonderful background for both the big buck and the doe.

  21. Two beautiful cards Loll and love the inked embossing using the two different die cut deer images and both work extremely well. I'm sad I still haven't managed to enter the Christmas challenge but will hopefully do so next month. I have had such a lot of extra things going on that there haven't been enough hours in the day. x
