Lilies

Hi everyone.  Today I'm sharing a card using a NBUS stamp.  I've had this for a while, but only now pulling it out. :)

I love lilies so when I saw this stamp set, I had to buy it! :)  I made a stencil monoprint background using a mini dot stencil and distress inks (spiced marmalade, abandoned coral, mustard seed).  Once dry, I tore off the top on an angle and then stamped my lilies in permanent ink.  I watercoloured the image with more distress inks (abandoned coral, festive berries, barn door, peeled paint).  Adhered the torn panel to a white card base and stamped my sentiment in black.

Stencil Monoprint is my FAVOURITE stenciling technique.  And I find watercolouring with inks so relaxing and fun!

Here's a close-up ...
Sending this card along to The Flower Challenge #24 - Anything Goes.  I do love to make flower cards, but don't always have time to play along.  This month I've played twice! :)  Check out the gallery to see the amazing cards from the Designers and participants.

  2. Oh Loll this is gorgeous - love the lilies and how you have coloured them - I am intrigued by the fact that you stamped them onto the stencilled background and then coloured them!

  5. Another gorgeous stencil monoprint. At first I thought you used some of your paper towel for the background. That always looks so pretty. Beautiful watercoloring on your flowers.

  13. What outstanding painting on the lilies and love the torn corner. What a novel effect and I've long forgot to use the torn paper in designing. Your monoprint turned out just beautiful. That stencil is just wonderful for that.

  17. The blend of the soft warm colors and the Stencil Monoprint effect are so pretty. Loll! I love it! It looks like sunshine is coming through the dots. The lilies are beautiful and the white gel pen dots are a very nice touch. The angled torn edge is both artistic and practical! Hideko xx

  18. A great background for your beautiful lilies, Loll. I love multicolor and unpredictability, as water will lead the color. I also love how a white area sneaks into the card thanks to tearing the background card. A great card!
