Burgundy Calla Lilies

Hi everyone.  Who knew there were burgundy Calla Lilies??!!  I googled and there they were. :)  I wanted to play along with STAMPlorations January CAS Challenge with an option of using Burgundy.  It was a challenge for me because I don't have any burgundy ink.



I used these pretty Calla Lilies that I already had in my UFO box.  They were watercoloured yellow and I didn't end up using them several months ago, so pulled them out and went over the yellow with Aged Mahogany and then a layer of Wilted Violet.  In the end, I think it's a pretty good shade of burgundy.

Simple CAS card with fussy-cut flowers, stamped sentiment and a little sponging to ground the flowers.

Stamps:  Smile (dee's artsy impressions - STAMPlorations)
Paper:  White card stock (Neenah 110 lb.); Watercolour (Arches 140 lb. cold press)
Ink:  Versamark; Zigs; Distress Inks:  Aged Magohany, Wilted Violet, Twisted Citron (Tim Holtz)
Accessories & Tools:  White embossing powder, heat tool, water brush, post-it note for masking, sponge

    BEAUTIFUL card Loll and I love how you turned yellow Calla Lily's into Burgundy ones!! And what a beautiful shade of Burgundy too! I'm also a little partial to Calla Lily's as our youngest daughter's name is Calla! Lovely, lovely card my friend!! :0)

    What an incredible job you did creating burgundy from yellow. This is amazing and sure do wish someone would make that color ink. I've looked for years for it. Beautiful coloring and I love the white embossing with this. I never knew Calla Lillies were anything but white.

    Love that rich shade of burgundy! I didn't know there were burgundy calla lilies either! Good for you for mixing those colours and coming up with a true burgundy!

    Oh my gosh, your Calla Lilies are absolutely gorgeous, Loll! I love how you created the burgundy color for the flower petals and how beautiful they look with yellow and green! Such a lovely CAS design, too...WOW!

    I didn't know Callas came in that color either, Loll, but they sure are beautiful in burgundy.

    beautiful Loll, those Calla lilies are gorgeous. I had some that colour a few years ago, they are so dark they almost look black:)

    I'd say you got the perfect color too Loll! Wow, this is a stunning card! I didn't now there were burgundy Calla Lilies either, I can imagine they are stunning just like the ones on your card.     Loll, every time I stop by I spend so much time scrolling through that I forget to comment, but I have to tell you these Calla Lilies are exquisite! Perfect burgundy color and fussy cutting. What more could you possibly need to make a gorgeous card? It's wonderful!

    I have this stamp set and you certainly put your mark on it with this beautiful lily. Love the colour it landed up and how good to be able to use it when you didn't like the original colour. Goes to show you never know when something you don't like has a second chance. Love it!
