January Rudolph Days

Hi everyone.  Today is the start of Rudolph Days.  The challenge runs from the 25th to end of month and it's anything goes - Christmas.

Today's card uses one of my favourite poinsettia images.  I LOVE this spray from Avery Elle.  There are a few different stamps in the set and there's matching dies too!

Watercoloured the poinsettia spray with Stampin' Up! inks and Distress Inks on mixed media paper; then splattered with diluted white acrylic paint.  Cut out with the die and popped it over top of a dry embossed snowflake background that I received AGES ago from my dear friend Susan.  Finished the card with the white heat embossed black banner.

  1. Simply beautiful Loll. There's nothing quite like a poinsettia on a Christmas card. Gorgeous ef too. The white splatters shows just a hint of snow.

  7. I think this card is so YOU and I love it, Loll! The poinsettias are colored beautifully and the diluted white acrylic paint spatters are perfect. They make a big difference and add a winter/snowy feeling to the card. The dry-embossed snowflake background is just right to add subtle interest and dimension.

  10. Love the embossed background to that fab cluster of poinsettias. The splashes look like snow melting.
Treated myself to a real one before the holidays, trying to keep it in good health, so far so good but whether it will last 'til next year, I don't know. :)

  22. You have matched your die to the stamped image so well. I am not very clever at that, though hopefully I am improving with practice! It is the perfect image for this style of card, and the embossing on the background really makes it pop well. Kate x
