Shimmery Snowflake

Hi everyone.  Happy Thanksgiving weekend from Canada! :)

Today I'm sharing a card I made for two challenges.  I actually made multiples to build my stash of Christmas cards.  I still need to make about 30 before it's time to get them into the mail. :)

This uses a stencil that I cut with my Silhouette Cameo using a Silhouette America cut file.  I used some of my Pearl-X powders which I mixed with Gum Arabic and a little bit of water and then dabbed the colours over the stencil using a sponge dauber.  I have a lot of the mica powders (both Pearl-X and Arteza powders ... gift from a very generous friend) that don't have a binder, which means I need to add them to something to get them to stick to the paper and not rub off.  Gum Arabic works great.

Once I finished stenciling, I used a Pilot silver fine tip metallic pen to outline the snowflake.  I then splattered diluted white gouache paint over top.  The sentiment is from the Christmas Sentiments set (Penny Black), stamped in Versamark and heat embossed with silver embossing powder.

Close-up ...

These magical powders add so much shimmer and shine, which you can really see in the photo above. :)

I'm sending this card over to two challenges (both from Diane and Darlene)!:

First, Peace on Earth - Challenge #25, where I was inspired by the amazing mood board ... you can see which image inspired my cards. :)

Second, the brand new Stencil Fun Challenge!  Happy to be playing along for the first challenge!  I didn't use the optional twist this month.
Thanks for stopping by!

  10. What fabulous sparkle and shine from the Pearl X Loll and such a pretty look on the black card with a bit of spattering too. I only have a couple of mica powders, and I have mixed them with water which seems to set them or I think I am right in saying that Versamark Ink will keep them in place too, but I must admit I haven't used them for a very long time and haven't tried the gum arabic, but you have inspired me to give them a try again as the finished look is so beautiful. x
