Hi everyone. Yesterday I posted two cards with a watercolour wash sunrise in the background. That wash was done wet paint on dry paper (wet on dry). Today's wash is wet on wet ... just like it sounds, wet paint on wet paper. I love how the colours of the paint flow when they hit the wet paper. I did a random design with just adding squiggles of colour and letting the water do most of the work. I also tilted my panel when it was really wet to allow the colours to run.
I started out by doing this wash on the horizontal. But when I made my card, I loved the look with the panel being vertical. It reminds me of the look of Northern Lights behind the snowy scene. I'm really happy with how this turned out. Of course, you can't go wrong with using green and turquoise together ... awesome colour combo! :)
I added two ripped white snowbanks at the bottom and a die-cut three which I embossed with flourishes. I swiped my Versamark across the top of the embossing and then heat embossed with iridescent powder. Just adds a bit of sparkle. The sentiment is stamped with silver ink and doesn't show up well in the photo, but is pretty in real life.

Loll, this is bee-you-tea-ful! Love that you turned the horizontal but it really does make an impressive show!

Oh yes, it really does look like Northern Lights! I love your watercolored sky Loll, it came out so well. Hard to mimic the Northern Lights, but I think you have captured it well with these colors. Not that I ever seen them in person or anything. lol I love that beautiful tree and the snow banks. The little bit of shimmer is perfect. Love your sentiment in the silver too, so pretty. ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, this totally looks like the Aurora Borealis! Wowzers!! I suddenly find, I wish I was just a couple inches tall so I could jump into this wintery scene and watch as the sky swirls above me, glistening off the snow! LOVE! hugs :)

It does indeed look like pictures of the Northern Lights that I've seen (having never seen it for real). Love the atmosphere the blue & turquoise create for this pretty tree. Also like the texture of embossing on the branches, and of course the snowdrifts. TFS the link...will check that out, when I get a chance. Always enjoy seeing the videos. Hugs
