Copper Leaf Hello

Hi everyone.  One more card for the CAS Watercolour - Silhouette challenge before it closes in a couple of days.

Made this card for my dear friend, Nancy.  It's her birthday in a few days and she will be off camping and enjoying a relaxing time.  Sent it to her early and she has already received it in the mail. :)  Think this might be the only card I have sent this year that arrived in time!  Time seems to get away from me lately.  Happy Birthday to you, sweet friend!!

I used a technique that I have rarely used, acrylic block watercolouring.  Don't know why I don't use this more because it's pretty easy and makes for a lovely background.  I added two shades of orange distress inks onto an acrylic block, sprayed with a little water and then pressed into a piece of mixed media paper. After it was dry, I masked the edges and stamped script over top to give it a little more interest.

I coloured a piece of copper with red alcohol ink and then die-cut the leaf sprig.  A simple Hello sentiment finishes the card.

We've had a wonderful time with this fun challenge.  Amazing cards by our wonderful Design Team and talented Guest Designer, Birgit.  And so many beautiful and creative cards from our participants.  Thanks to all that played along!

Stamps:  Script (Penny Black); Sentiment - Bouquet of Thanks (Simon Says Stamp)
Paper:  Mixed Media (Strathmore 140 lb.)
Ink:  Distress Inks:  Spiced Marmalade, Ripe Persimmon, Wild Honey (Tim Holtz)
Accessories & Tools:  acrylic block, water mister, copper sheet, red alcohol ink, Little Leaves die (Sizzix)

How fun to see copper again and love the idea of using alcohol ink since I'm so disaster prone! Love that background, particularly the deckled edges on it. Such a gorgeous effect.

I don't use this background technique enough either, my friend! I love these colors and the stamped script with the beautiful leaves! I know that Nancy loves this! My cards seem to be late more often than not too. The calendar seems to go faster and faster!

Gorgeous Loll. I like using script on background paper. You master the foil flowers and foilage.

You've inspired me to do some acrylic block backgrounds - such an oldie by goodie technique. Love the script and copper leaf! Good for you for getting Nancy's card to her on time. When I realized she was leaving before her birthday, I decided mine would have to be a belated birthday card!

I love block watercolor stamping, Loll, and I'm surprised you don't do it more. In fact I picked that technique for my challenge at Just Us Girls. The script overstamping adds great texture and the leaves are gorgeous.

Beautiful CAS card, Loll! The background is so lovey with the acrylic block stamping and the script stamp. Coloring the copper leaf sprig with red AI is such a great idea. I never though of it. Nancy must have appreciated the card made with love. Hideko

This is so beautiful, Loll! I know that Nancy surely loved this; I know I do! The colors are so perfect now that it's officially Fall. Sorry I've been AWOL - migraines had been a bit of a problem the last week. But now that they're gone, I hope to get back into the swing of commenting. I do so love this card!! Have a wonderful weekend. Bev

Don't know which I love more: the stunning background in those warm colors with the script or the copper leaf! Together the make for a spectacular card!
I was going to write that at some point I have to buy a torch because I just love your heated copper but just read that on this one you used alcohol ink! Since I have some I might try that first...
