Ink Blending on Coloured Card - Group of Seven

Hi everyone.  This month our Group of Seven Cardmakers had fun Ink Blending on coloured card stock using Distress Inks.

Please check out the details for the techniques and link to videos on the blog ...
This is a resist technique, stamping the line image Poinsettia Poem (Penny Black) in versamark onto coloured card stock (Cherry Cobbler card stock - SU!), and heat embossing with Silver Pearl embossing Powder.  I blended Aged Mahogany Distress Ink around the image (leaving the center with no sponging), then added more blending (on the very edge of the card) with Black Soot Distress Ink.  To finish, I splattered with Shimmer Spray, which is silver and matched the image really well.  I stamped the sentiment (Christmas Sentiments - Penny Black) in versamark and heat embossed with the same Silver Pearl embossing powder onto a black sentiment banner.

This card was done fairly quickly, but it definitely makes a statement!

I'm sending the above card to Rudolph Days May Challenge.  And I'm also sending it to Merry Little Christmas Challenge #50.

... and more Ink Blending on Coloured Card Stock cards ...

This card is done on Cajun Craze Card Stock (retired SU!).  The image is Radiant (Penny Black), stamped and heat embossed in Princess Gold embossing powder.  I love the coloured card base with distress inks Crackling Campfire sponged over top of the outside edge of the image, and then Walnut Stain on the very outside edge.  To finish, the sentiment (Special Sentiments - Penny Black) is stamped onto a black banner, heat embossed in the same colour as the image, and then attached at the bottom of the card.

I'm sending the above card to Penny Black Saturday Challenge for May.
... and another card ...
Used Iris Elegance (Penny Black) line stamp, heat embossed in silver onto Elegance Eggplant card stock (Stampin' Up!).  Sponged around outside of image using Villainous Potion Distress ink, followed by edge sponging in Black Soot Distress Ink.  Splattered with Shimmer Spray (silver) and diluted white acrylic paint.  To finish, added a black sentiment banner at the bottom of the card with die-cut sentiment (Heartfelt - Penny Black), cut from silver metallic card stock.

... and last ...
This is one of my oldest stamps that I've had for over 20 years. :)  I thought it would work perfectly with this technique and I'm so happy how this turned out.  I used Soft Suede card stock (SU!) as the base, stamped Silhouette Grasses (Hero Arts - retired) image and heat embossed in Princess Gold embossing powder.  Distress Inks Walnut Stain and Black Soot where sponged around the outside edge of the design.  To finish, I stamped the same sentiment as the Radiant card above, Special Sentiments (Penny Black) onto black sentiment banner and heat embossed in Princess Gold.  The sentiment banner is popped up to add some dimension.

In the Studio with Christine

Hi everyone.   A couple of days ago, my friend Christine came over to have a play with Distress Embossing Glazes.  Both of us had bought several of them 2-3 years ago and only used them once.  Here is a link to Christine's post for today with her card she made at our play day!  It's beautiful!!

We had a fun time playing, chatting and eating. :)  We had a few challenges using the Glazes, but we are both happy with how our cards turned out.

I love the vibrancy of the rainbow card above, inspired by Jennifer McGuire's video on Distress Embossing Glazes.  Once I was finished blending DOX inks, stenciling leaves and adding different colours of Glazes, I splattered with water and then splattered again with diluted white paint.  I used a lovely, large die-cut sentiment that I received from a dear stamping friend many years ago. :)  I have to say that I LOVE rainbow cards and I need to make them more often ... they are so happy! :)

I'm sending the above card to the May Stencil Fun Challenge - Flowers.  I didn't use the optional theme this time. :)

Giant Happy Birthday

Hi everyone.  Today I'm sharing a simple and quick-to-make Birthday card.  I dropped reinkers onto my work mat, spritzed with water and smooshed a piece of mixed media paper.  I LOVE this colour combo ... but forgot to write it down - oops!  I believe the colours are:  Distress Re-inkers in Peacock Feathers, Wilted Violet and Salty Ocean. :)  Once the panel was dry I attached it to my white card base.

I die-cut Giant Happy Birthday die (Lawn Fawn) three times from white card stock.  Glued them together to create a thick die-cut and adhered it to the front of my card.  That's it! :)

I'm sending this card to Seize the Birthday #261 - wheels.  No topping for me this time. :)

Happy Mother's Day

Hi everyone.  Happy Mother's Day!  I'm sharing a quick and easy card I made for my Mom and took to her yesterday along with a bouquet of flowers.

This time I stamped my spray of flowers (Blooming Branch - PinkFresh Studio) onto patterned paper.  I used the matching stencils to sponge on colours for the flowers and leaves.  The sentiment (Beautiful Mothers - Simon Says Stamp) is stamped in black and I used my white Posca pen to add centers to the flowers.

Snowy

Hi everyone.  I've made a fun Christmas card using my favourite snowman stamp, Snowy (Penny Black).  This sweet snowman always makes me smile! :)

I started with the background, stamping Christmas Story (Penny Black) in Versamark and then sprinkled with white embossing powder and heat set.  I used Salvaged Patina distress ink to sponge in the right lower corner which highlights the white embossed text.  I stamped Snowy onto a small piece of mixed media paper in black ink and heat embossed in clear, then die-cut with my recent purchase of the matching die (Frosty's Snow).  I did a little watercolouring of Snowy's scarf, hat, and highlighted his outline; then added white dots to his scarf and hat using a white Posca pen.   Glitter Snow Texture paste (Aleene's) was randomly added to his hat cuff and pom-pom and red chalk was added to his nose and cheeks.

To finish, I tore a piece of white card stock to create a snow hill, stamped the sentiment (Christmas Sentiments - Penny Black) in black ink and heat embossed in clear.  I popped Snowy on top of the card with foam.

Cosmos

Hi everyone.  Today's card uses the Cosmos Bunch stamp and stenciling set from PinkFresh Studio.  I've made a card with the five layering stencils before and I just love how easy they are to use.  This is the first time I paired them with the matching stamp - worked great!

I stamped the image in black ink and then used the stencils to sponge in the colours for the leaves and flowers.  I used a Posca pen to add white centers to the flowers.

I'm sending this over to Beautiful Blossoms Challenge #4, following their colours on the optional mood board.

I'm also sending the card to NBUS Challenge #50 (never-before-used-schtuff) - this is the first time I've inked up the stamp.
