Alcohol Lift Pad Success

Hi everyone.  I get together with some card making friends once a month and we experiment with techniques and products.  This last session was led by Christine.  She had played around with her Alcohol Lift Pad and figured out how to get the best results.  I had just tried it by stamping to remove colour and didn't have much success.

So the trick is to ink your image well with the Alcohol Ink Lift Pad and once stamped, the "lift" formula leaves a lot behind and your image is quite wet.  Make sure to blot it well or dry it thoroughly before buffing the image (with paper towel or cloth) to get the best result.

We decided to go a step further and use the ink lifted from the image to create a second image.  So I inked my flowers with the Lift Pad, stamped onto the alcohol inked Yupo paper, added a piece of plain card stock on top and stamped again, transferring the ink as well as absorbing any "lift" solution with the back of the card panel.  I did this about three times per image.  The result above is awesome!  And below is the image I made from my lifted alcohol ink ...

A true Twofer! :)  I'm really happy with them both.

So I did a second set using different colours ...
... and the lifted ink image ...
Now that I know you need to make sure the first image is completely dry before buffing, it makes more sense.  Repeat stamping always removes more ink and makes your image stand out better.

Thanks for the help Christine!

CAS Stencil September Challenge

Hi everyone.  It's the start of the CAS Stencil September Challenge.  This month is hosted by the amazingly talented, Julia (Create with Me).  Julia wants us to use a Baby Wipe with Stenciling for this month's challenge

This is actualy the second version of this design.  I first made a similar design, using a different stamps for a special birthday card.  It turned out really well but wasn't CAS enough for the challenge (not enough white space), so I made a second version.  The card sbove has lots of white space to balance my mixed media panel.

I stamped an image from Magenta and heat embossed in white.  I then sponged over top of the white embossing with Distress inks (Mustard Seed, Ripe Persimmon, Wilted Violet).  I placed a new-to-me stencil over top and used a baby wipe to remove some of the colour.  The design is subtle, but you can definitely see the leaf design (especially in the close-up below).  A simple stamped sentiment in black finishes the card.

We are also excited to welcome Sarah (Funky Fossil Designs) as our Guest Designer.  Welcome Sarah!  Please check out the challenge blog to see the baby wipe through stencil cards from Sarah and our amazing Designers.  Then come join us!

I'll also share the first version of this card using a different stamped image.  I'm so happy with how this turned out.  Very artsy, colourful and fun.  This is a birthday card for my SIL, Alex that he received on Aug. 24th.

CAS Christmas September Challenge

Hi everyone.  It's the start of the September CAS Christmas challenge.  This year is flying by so quickly!  This month is being hosted by Nance (Soul Stampin').  I think you'll have fun with this one! :)

I know this probably doesn't look like much of a holiday treat, but I imagine this cup is filled with a delicious eggnog latte - yummy! :)

I bought this stamp set from STAMPlorations recently.  There are four different designs for the inside of the coffee cup.  I LOVE the Christmas one with the poinsettia.  So pretty.  I also love the colours of white, red, and light blue together, so that's where I went with this one.  I kept it very CAS by just fussy-cutting my watercoloured Christmas cup and popping it up on foam for dimension.  A simple sentiment finishes the card.

CAS Watercolour September Challenge

Hi everyone.  Today is the launch of the CAS Watercolour September Challenge.  Jenny (My Paper Epiphany) is our host this month and she has come up with a fantastic challenge ...

Jenny wants us to use Complementary Colours this month (opposite colours on the colour wheel).  She has provided a colour wheel to help you.  I have used Violet and Yellow for my card.

I started with a Lindy's magicals background that was in my stash.  It's done with Witches Potion Purple ... there are so many different colours within this one powder --- LOVE IT!

I die-cut hollyhocks and watercoloured them in two shades of yellow distress inks.  A white frame over top with a purple stamped sentiment finishes the card.
