Penny Black - Falling Leaves Cut Out

Hi everyone.  Today I'm sharing a clean and simple design using one of the lovely die sets called Falling Leaves Cut-Outs (51-680).
I started by smooshing a mixed media panel with saturated distress inks (carved pumpkin, mustard seed, peacock feathers, seedless preserves).  All 12 of the leaves from the Falling Leaves Cut Out set (51-680) were die-cut from the colourful panel.  I used a white Posca pen to add the veins of the leaves.

I wanted to create a floating frame, which means the images float above the background frame.  All leaves where temporarily taped down tightly together and then die-cut with an oval die.  I then removed each piece one-at-a-time and placed them back with pop dots underneath so they pop off the background.  This is the easiest way for me to do the floating frame technique.

The sentiment (Happy Snippets  30-358) was white embossed on a black banner and adhered directly over the oval.

Thanks for coming by for a visit!

How beautiful Loll and the colours really pop. The technique with the die cut and pop dotted leaves cut to the shape of the oval mat looks fantastic..so elegant and finished perfectly with the white on black sentiment. x

This is just fabulous Loll. I love the colours and the effect of the floating frame. I've only made a floating frame once. The way I was shown was so complicated, I've never tried it again. Your way looks much easier, so I'll have to give it another go. xx

A spectacular arrangement of these leaves in a circle. I also love colors, this purple reminds me of ripe aubergines. The beautiful contrast on the card only enhances the CAS layout.

OMG..your card looks so beautiful on our dining room table, Lolly:-) I Love your rich colors and the floating frame technique, which I have only done once. Your drawn Posca Pen veins turned out beautifully and added so much interest to your leaves. The stamp set and die set leaves are perfect for the floating frames technique. The sets are now on my wishlist. Thank you again for your thoughtful and beautiful card. Love and Hugs...Nancy
