February CAS Mix Up Reminder

Hi everyone.  Back with a reminder for the February CAS Mix Up Challenge, hosted by Susan.

For my launch card on the 1st, I used a technique to create this look using black card stock, gold heat embossing, and Finetec Metallic Pearl paints.

This time I'm using a different technique (one of the original ways to create Faux Cloisonne), which uses magazines, catalogues or any other printed medium on glossy paper.  The important part of the technique is to create a shiny, metallic, glossy look using glossy images with lots of metallic heat embossing.  Stamps with intricate designs work best with magazine images.

The card above uses a couple of pages from an old calendar that I was going to recycle from last year.  The lower leaf is stamped and heat embossed over a sunset with a small bit of yellow and orange from the sun, but mostly a deep blue sky.  The top leaf is stamped over an Autumn tree where the leaves are turning colour ... mostly yellow with a little orange.  You would never have guessed what the original photos are when you look at the leaves. :)

CAS Watercolour October Challenge

Hi everyone.  Today, Bonnie and I are so happy to celebrate CAS Watercolour's 1st Birthday!  We couldn't have done it without all the help from our very talented and creative Design Team.  Thank you to Nancy, Susan, Karen, and Christine!!

We are also thankful to YOU ... our wonderful participants!!  We are thrilled with all the amazing cards that are entered into our challenge galleries.  The whole team enjoys seeing the cards and reading about how they are made.  Thanks so much for joining in ... you have truly made CAS Watercolour a success!

On to our October challenge ...

Today's card uses Distress Oxides for the background.  I layered Fossilized Amber, Spiced Marmalade, Worn Lipstick, and Wilted Violet.  I love this colour combination. It has a real warmth about it that makes me think of fall.

I added two beautiful copper die-cut leaves sent to me by my good friend, Bonnie. A simple sentiment finishes the card.
