Guest Designers

Day One ... Twelve Tags of Christmas

Hi everyone.  Welcome to the start of the Twelve Tags of Christmas 2015.  I had such a fun time last year, that I'm back with another tag event for this year! :)

Over the next twelve days, I'll be sharing one Mixed Media Christmas tag each day that I've made, plus two Guest Designer tags.  All twelve of my wonderful guest designers from last year will be here again,  as well as thirteen new friends.  Each of them has a unique and creative style that I'm sure will inspire you.

Smooshed Inka gold and peacock feathers distress ink background (click HERE for my video tutorial on this technique).  Script stamped background.  Stenciled mesh design with Inka Gold and die-cut trees also covered with Inka gold and embossed with flourish design.  Clear glitter glue dots were added for sparkle.

Red and Gold Christmas

Hi everyone.  Today I've made a card for the Merry Monday Challenge #178 - Red and Gold, that is hosted by my good friend Bonnie.

I used some gold embossing on my candle images and sentiment.  I'm finding it really difficult to get a good picture of any card that has embossing on it ... so I'm on a mission to find a better way of taking photos.  Maybe a light tent is needed ... or maybe just some extra lights, but it is something that I'm working on. :)

For this card I used Inka Gold again.  This time I just spread some of the gold onto my craft mat, spritzed with water and smooshed a piece of mixed media paper.  Click HERE to see my YouTube video on this technique.

I like having just the gold splattered throughout the background.  I then stamped my candle and poinsettia image onto watercolour paper, and heat embossed with gold.  I watercoloured the poinsettia using my Zig pens, and the candles using diluted gold ink.  I felt the card needed something else, so took my gold metallic pen and drew a frame onto my card panel.  The sentiment was heat embossed in gold as well, and gold liquid pearls were added to the center of the poinsettia for a the finishing touch.

Gilding with Inka Gold

Hi everyone.  Today is the start of the HLS November CAS Challenge.  A big thanks to Toni for this awesome challenge idea ... I had so much fun with this!

I LOVE adding a little gold to my cards. :)  It just adds a touch of elegance and shine.

I used Inka Gold wax paste for my card today.  First I sprayed watercolour paper with three colours of watercolour sprays (yellow, orange and pink).  Once dry, I embossed with a script embossing folder, and then used a stiff sponge to add inka gold on top, highlighting the embossing.  Once dry, buffing the surface with a soft cloth or paper towel, brings out the shine.  So simple to do.

I made 26 cards using this technique.  All of them started with the same watercoloured background, then I used a variety of embossing folders, highlighted with inka gold and then added a simple white die-cut.  I'll include a few pictures of some of the other cards ...  they are all made the same way.  I made these and sent them off to thank my wonderful friends that will be joining me as Guest Designers for my Mixed Media Christmas Tag event that starts in just two days from now.  I hope you'll come back to check out the tag event and considering joining in.  There will be lots of wonderful inspiration from my talented Guest Designers, as well as prizes.
