The Flower Challenge #54

Hi everyone.  It's the start of March's The Flower Challenge #54.  This month we are playing with purple. :)

I chose "Spring Tulips" from Beccy's digital stamps.  I love the thought of spring not being very far away.  I started by printing the digital image in soft gray and then watercoloured the flowers and leaves with Seedless Preserves and Hickory Smoke distress inks.  I then watercoloured the watering can with Milled Lavender, but it was too pale, so I did a second coat, this time with a light wash of Seedless Preserves.  Happy with how it looks.  The sentiment is from a retired Technique Tuesday stamp set called Cosmos - I love the font of the sentiments in that set.

CAS Christmas March Challenge

Hi everyone.  Today's card is for the CAS Christmas March Challenge, hosted by me!

We are so excited to be celebrating our 3rd Birthday at CAS Christmas and we hope you'll join us!

I do love kraft, red, and white together.  It's a great colour combination for Christmas cards.  I started by creating a small panel from kraft paper.  I tore two pieces of white card stock for my snow hills, adhering them to the panel and added some clear Wink of Stella for a bit of shimmer along the tops of the hills.  I had a beautiful piece of red patterned paper gifted to me by a friend, so I used a small strip of it for the bottom.  

I cut a sweet reindeer die (Retro Deer - Simon Says Stamp) from kraft paper and then used brown distress ink to add some sponging around the edges so the reindeer would stand out from the background.  I added a tiny drop of Autumn Red Crystal Drops for Rudolph's nose. :)

To finish, I stamped the sentiment (Christmas Moments - Penny Black) in red distress ink and clear heat embossed.  The final step was to splatter snow using diluted white paint.

CAS Mix Up March Challenge

Hi everyone.  Welcome to the start of the March CAS Mix Up Challenge.  Our host for this month is Bonnie (Stamping with Klass).  She would like us to make prints using die-cuts.

It is also a special day as we celebrate our 5th birthday at

CAS Mix Up!

And a special welcome to our amazing Guest Designer this month, Ros (Mikey's Mom)!

I really enjoy this wonderful technique that Bonnie shared with me a while back, video instruction is HERE.  It's so much fun to add soft prints to the background and then add the die-cut on top.  Adds so much dimension to the card.  I die-cut two flowers, removing most of the stem from one of them.  They were both watercoloured with distress inks.  I used the one with the short stems for my prints, adding lots of water and then pressing them onto my card front.

My CAS Mixed Media card has print making, die-cutting, watercolouring, and stamping.
