Dual Stencil Prints

Hi everyone.  Today I'm sharing a dual print that I did at the craft retreat I attended in May.  This is where you sprinkle powdered inks through a stencil and end up with two card fronts (the positive and the negative).  It's a great way to also use the ink that is left on the stencil from your first print. :)

I used Lindy's magicals for the powder this time and it worked great.  The first print (left above) is just the one single flower.  The second print (right above) is the reverse (stencil monoprint) with the background coloured with ink.  After it dried I lined up the flower stencil back over top and added a layer of white embossing paste which adds texture and dimension.  I finished the cards the same with a gray stamped sentiment and top right rounded corner.

Here's are the close-ups ...

July Rudolph Days

Hi everyone.  It's time for the July Ruloph Days.  Yes, I know it's August, but Rudolph Days was delayed by a week as Maureen, who runs the Rudolph Day challenge, was on holiday.  Hope you had a great vacation Maureen!!

Today I'm sharing an pretty ornament die-cut that I bought recently.  I used a small piece of leftover embedd brushos that I made when experimenting with this technique.  Always great to have pieces like this in my stash to make a quick and easy card. :)

This comes as all one die (except for the silver top to the ornament.  I cut it from white card stock and then cut it again from my brusho piece, which is inlaid.  The top was cut from silver foil paper and adhered to the top of the ornament.  Everything was popped up with foam and adhered to my card base which had a stamped sentiment.

Here's a close-up ...

CAS Christmas August Challenge

Hi everyone.  It's the start of the CAS Christmas August Challenge.  The challenge this month is being run by the extremely talented Hideko (Papercraft Bouquet) and she picked ...

For my card I used an old stamp that I've probably had for about twenty years. :)  I swiped the stamp with a light green ink pad, then dabbed a darker green ink pad randomly over top.  Stamped onto mixed media paper and then used a water brush to move the ink around.  I also added some brown ink for the trunk.  This created a background for my tree.  I repeated the same steps, but only lightly touched the image with my water brush so it didn't blur and the image stayed sharp.

Once dry, I heat embossed the tree in clear to set the colour.  I sponged the sky with two shades of light blue, sprinkled Shabby White Frantage over top for falling snow and melted it onto my card stock in my griddle.  Previously I would heat the frantage from underneath using my heat tool, but it would fly all over the place and I usually ended up with just a little sticking to my card.  Using the griddle means that every speck melted. :)

I added a torn piece of white card stock for a snow hill at the bottom of the tree and then framed it in white with a green stamped sentiment.

CAS Watercolour August Challenge

Hi everyone.  Welcome to the start of the CAS Watercolour August Challenge.  This month's host is Marcia (Marcia's Stampin' Pad), and she has a fantastic challenge for you this month!

I do love sunflowers.  They are such a happy flower with their sweet faces and bright colours.  I don't have a lot of sunflower images, so had an excuse to do a bit of shopping. :)

The image above is only the top of the stamp.  I stamped it onto mixed media paper in brown ink and heat embossed in clear.  Then used Distress Inks to watercolour.  I fussy-cut and added it to my card base with the stitched window card front over top.  I popped up a few of the petals of the sunflower for some added dimension.

This is such a happy card. :)
