Santa Shaker

Hi everyone.  Today's card is for the current MUSE (#99 - Vicki Dutcher).  I focused on the shaker part of Vicki's inspiration card.  I definitely need some practice making these shaker cards, because my sequins are sticking to the foam all around the inside :)  Need to figure out what I'm doing wrong.  Might have something to do with running out of glue tape and having to use liquid glue. :)

This adds to my stash of Christmas cards for this year ... so at least I'm keeping that up.  I was hoping to make a bunch of these and thought the recipients could take the ornament off the card and hang it on the Christmas tree.

Used my nestie labels die to make the frame, and added a little piece of fun patterned paper on the inside.  I filled the pocket with different shades of green sequins and teeny red rhinestons I got from my local $1 store.

Thanks to Vicki for the wonderful inspiration.  Check out her card and the beautiful entries for the challenge HERE.

Paper:  White, Cheery & Jolly DSP (Paper Studio)
Accessories & Tools:  Framelits Label Collection dies (SU!), acrylic sheet, green sequins, red rhinestones, jump ring, red metallic twine (gift from my friend Susan)

Great shaker card Loll. Try running a little talc around the inside edge of your foam tape which will stop the sequins sticking to it.

This is a darling shaker card Loll! I love the Santa paper inside with the candy and reindeer. A lot of people are following Jennifer McGuire and cutting foam sheets for the "lift" to the shaker card, this way the sequins and such don't get stuck. I have them get stuck with the foam tape too, so I'm gonna try this new technique out for the shaker cards and see if it works better for me. Hugs, Brenda

So cute, Loll ... love the idea that the shaker element doubles as an ornament that can be used year after year! Anita :)

very cute card Loll - keep cornstarch in a little container with a q-tip and just rub it around the edges of your foam tape and takes card of the problem. i have tried the fun foam technique but am not wild about it - am going to experiment some more tho.

This is so cute Loll, love it. Try using an anti static bag (or talc) along the edges of the foam tape, I've heard this helps the problem. Carol x

Looks perfect to me! I just made a shaker too - they're trickier than they look, I bet it will just take me some more practice! So glad you joined us at Muse this week, Loll!

That is such a cute shaker card, Loll, and the fact that it is removable to be used as an ornament is brilliant.

I really love your take on Vicki's Muse card, Loll! The label die frame is such a great idea for a shaker and I love your little 'scene'!
Brush the inside with corn starch or with your embossing buddy to remove some of the 'sticky'...I know, that would drive me crazy, too :)

Awesome shape for your shaker element, Loll! The colors are fabulous and it's double the fun with being able to use it as an ornament!

The shaker looks great turned into a card! I'm wondering how you attached it to the card so that the recipient can easily take it off to hang on their tree?

Really cute shaker card Loll. I love your sweet DSP background and bright green sequins and tiny rhinestones. Great idea for an ornament for the recipient. Did I tell you I had several friends that used several of the tags that I made for your tag event for ornaments. Don't we have fun :-) TFS

Didn't actually do a temporary attachment on this card Susan. But I'm thinking maybe rubber cement might work. xx

You may be frustrated with the 'sticking sequins', but it sure looks very pretty in the picture! Love the tiny Santa & his peppermint & reindeer; and the green sequins were just the thing. I've never made one of these shaker cards. I expect everything would just fall right out! (I did get a lovely one of a beautiful cardinal, that came all the way across the pond, from Mrs. A.) Who knows - maybe in 2015. First I need to work with the Brusho paints. TFS & Hugs

I think it's adorable! And heck, I even glue down a couple sequins randomly so that when the card stands up they don't all sink to the bottom edge ;)

OMG, this is an awesome shaker card! LOVE it! I also get little bits stuck in the edges when it is shaken. I use the foam that comes with the PTI kit and it is really, really sticky. Wish the edges weren't though lol. I just say Karen's comment so maybe I will try that xx
