Silver Cone Flower

Hi everyone.  Today's card is for the CAS Stencil July Reminder - Alcohol Inks / Alcohol Lift, hosted by our very talented Cathy.

I started by creating a very colourful background of alcohol inks in my favourite combination (Wild Plum and Sunshine Yellow - from Ranger), along with Tangerine from Pinata.  This is so bright and fun.  I used a NBUS stencil that I've had for a couple of years, placing it over top of the colourful background and using a sponge dauber to lightly add silver alcohol ink through the stencil.  When I removed the stencil I thought the flower didn't stand out enough so I outlined it with a fine tip permanent black marker.  A die-cut frame was added over top with the stamped sentiment.  I experimented with stamping in black and then silver, but it didn't really look great.  It just lightened the black a little.  Oh well, experiments are good to learn what doesn't work as well. :)

Here's a close-up ... sorry for the reflection from the overhead lights.
Please check out the challenge blog to see the new reminder cards from our Designers, and special Guest Designer, Janet.  I know you'll be inspired to play along!

I'll share this card at Take It Make It challenge (Craft Stamper Magazine).

Wow, I love this card Loll. It came out so beautiful. Loving the background-it is so bright and cheery-summery. Love the cone flower in silver and the outlining really make it pop off the background. Yes, you have to try something to find out what works and what doesn't. Hugs, Brenda

Gorgeous color palette, Loll...I love how these bold colors blended on your background, and how you added silver alcohol ink through your stencil! Great idea to use your Cone Flower, too...it really pops, especially with your thin black outline...Genius idea! I think you've taken this technique to the next level...way to go, my friend! Barb xx

What a great technique Loll! Your bright background really pops out at you and then the silver/black look of the solid bloom becomes the focus and draws the eye to the center! Very effective! xx

I love this gorgeous stencilled flower over that bright and beautiful alcohol ink background Loll, and the PB Antique Frame is one I have long admired as it adds that extra touch of interest. The silver on the flower and the sentiment stands out so well. x

What an amazing effect you have created with this card Loll. When I saw it in the gallery I originally thought you had stamped the cone flower. Now I have found out that it is AI, I am even more impressed! x

Really striking card Loll, love the vibrant colours with the silver flower. I'm too scared to apply the inks through a stencil lol!! Dont want the stencil to stain, might have to make one from acetate or vellum and see what happens, thanks for the wonderful inspiration, Cathy x
