CAS Mix Up June Challenge

Hi everyone.  Welcome to the new CAS Mix Up Challenges.  If you haven't looked at the Challenge blog yet, please do visit to see the changes.

This month's challenge is for Mixed Media and is hosted by Susan (Cat's Inkcorporated).  Susan wants us to have a play with embossing vellum.

There are several ways to emboss vellum.  My card today uses heat embossing.  I stamped my image with Versamark and heat embossed with liquid platinum.  I then watercoloured the image using magicals.  I love the shimmer of these paints!  Most watercolour mediums will rub off vellum, but these lovely powders mixed with the slightest amount of water, stay permanent.

I mounted my watercoloured, heat embossed vellum onto a piece of acetate for stability.  Then popped it up over my card base with a thin white frame.

Close-up ...

We are thrilled to have Bonnie (Crafter at Large) as our Guest Designer this month.

Please check out the challenge blog to see the beautiful assortment of embossed vellum cards from Bonnie and our amazing Designers.  Then come play along.

Challenge is open until the 24th of the month, so there's lots of time to play.  Hope to see you in the gallery!

I think the vibrancy of your colours is amazing, they look so good with the silver heat embossing. What a good idea to use acetate to support the vellum - good thinking xx

The silver adds the perfect accent to this beautifully watercoloured bouquet. All the pop of colour off the edge make for a very special appeal. The gradation of the petals are well noted and gives lovely highlights. Gorgeous! xx

This looks so dreamy and ethereal, Loll. Love the color on vellum. I have never successfully heat embossed vellum. Maybe what I have is too thin. This turned out fabulously!

This is gorgeous Loll and a great idea to use a piece of acetate with the parchment to give it more substance within the popped up frame, and just love the beautiful Magicals colours, so bright and pretty using that super flower image from WPLUS9.

Liquid platinum you say? Now I have to have some. And those Magicals...their names are as dramatic as they are.

What a pretty vellum flower card, Loll! I love the vibrancy of Magicals, the translucency of the vellum, and the shininess of the metallic heat-embossing! I'm sure the shimmer from the Magicals must be prettier in real life too. When I read that you used Magicals on vellum, I immediately wondered if Magicals stayed permanent. I'm so glad that you shared with us that it did stay permanent. I'd love to try my Magicals on vellum myself soon.
Mounting the vellum piece onto acetate for stability is a wonderful idea!
