Christmas Wreaths

Hi everyone.  Playing with a new-to-me Christmas Wreaths stencil from STAMPlorations.  I masked off the berries on the stencil and then placed my wreath off the edge of the card front.  Used distress inks with my blending tools to add two shades of green ink to the leaves (Twisted Citron, Mowed Lawn ... then Twisted Citron again to blend).

Next, masked off the leaves and used distress inks and my blending tools to colour the berries (Candied Apple, Aged Mahogany ... and then Candied Apple again to blend).

Removed the stencil and when the ink was dry, stamped a Tim Holtz sentiment that fit perfectly in the opening of the wreath.

To finish I used a white Posca acrylic paint pen to add details to the leaves and berries as well as adding some "snow" on the leaves.

Close-up ...
I wanted to try doing a second one using clear heavy gel over top of the stencil.  Same masking, ink blending and then the heavy gel.  I got a few streaks of gel onto the background of my card front which makes the card stock shiny and there's no way to get rid of it.  I fussy cut the wreath and put it onto a clean card base.
I adhered the straight edge of the wreath flat to my card base; added pop dots along the outer (rounded edge) of the wreath.  Love the little bit of dimension and shine this design has.  LOVE happy accidents!  Added the white pen details at the end.

Close-up ... shows some of the shine from the gloss gel ...
This is an awesome stencil that has a smaller wreath on the same stencil.  Hope to play with that soon!

I'm entering this second card into the November Stencil Challenge at STAMPlorations.

Since this is my first time using this wreath stencil, I'm sending this card over to the NBUS #20 Challenge.

Oh, man, now I'm going to have ANOTHER item on NBUS mountain! What a beautiful wreath! Your off-the-edge design and how you have painted it so perfectly and added just the right white accents and glossification is bound to have this stencil sold out in no time! Well, crap, my jaw won't close. Now what will I do??? Love, Dolly

Its a fab stencil isn't it, your crisp stencilling looks fab and the glossy one is next level. If you hadn't mentioned the blooper no one could have guessed it wasn't what you intended! :)

Such a striking card! Love the wreath AND that beautiful Christmas Greeting stamp. Then I noticed you said it was retired! Such a disappointment...why do they do that???

WOW! This looks amazing, especially the wreath with the glossy layer. Your ink blending looks beautiful and I love the white highlights. I might just have to add this stencil to my collection xx

this is so stunning Loll! Happy accidents sometimes work out, well, I guess that is why they are called "happy" accidents. Love how you managed to salvage it into something extraordinary!

Wow, so bright and pretty Loll, and love the dimension of the second..it was meant to be, and the gloss over the top looks fantastic, and also the bits of detail using the white gel pen. The style and size of the sentiment goes perfectly too. x

Two more for Christmas and they're both gorgeous! I do love the gloss and the lift on the second card, but you had me with the first just as well. Beautiful blending with your inks. I also love the white details.

OMG..your versions of the STAMPlorations Christmas Wreaths Stencil are the most creative and beautiful ways to use this beautiful stencil that I have seen, Lolly. I Love all your details and especially love how you saved your 2nd card by fussy cutting and then popping up the leaves. The gloss on the berries and Posca pen details add so much texture to your images. So pleased you joined us at STAMPlorations Stencil Challenge. Love and Hugs...Nancy

P.S. Hi Dolly...BTW...the stencil will never sell out...Shery laser cuts all her stencils, so they do not sell out:-) Love and Hugs..Nancy

These are so lovely Loll and I love that you 'saved' the second and turned it into even more of a work of art with its extra dimension and glossiness! Looks like you have really caught the stencil bug (as I have too.) Thank you for your sweet comment on my post about The Baroness. I appreciate it. Vicky x
