Penny Black - Graceful Lily

Hi everyone.  Today I'm sharing cards made with a new stamp from Penny Black called Graceful Lily.  Lilies are my favourite flower.  I love their shape and the beautiful colours of the different varieties.
This card started with a background piece from my stash.  It is a soft stencil monoprint from a stencil, although hard to see the design with this small oval.  It looks more like smooshed colours.

I stamped the lilies in black ink and heat embossed in clear; then watercoloured using Distress Inks (Picked Raspberry, Mowed Lawn).  Die cut the image with an oval and popped it up on the card front with sentiment (Enliven stamp set), to give it a bit of dimension.

I wanted to make another card with this beautiful set.  I went in the opposite direction with design, using a black card base, stamping image twice, gold embossing and then watercolouring with metallic gouache paints.

The paints are very light in colour over top of black, but you can see all the shimmer from the pearl added to the colours.  The close-up shows it better.

The sentiment (Smiles) is stamped and gold embossed to match the image.

Thanks for coming by for a visit!

Two fabulous cards Loll and love the contrast between the two using the same beautiful lily stamp, and the soft and pretty watercolouring on the first using a previously coloured piece of card which works so well with the yellow tones and the pretty pink of the lilies, and then the pink metallic look on the black card with the wonderful gold embossing...so striking! x

Lilies are so pretty I agree Loll, they are so unique looking to me. I love your first lily card, the background is perfect for those lilies. Love how you have colored your lilies too, even the little speckles they have! Your second card is so dramatic on the black card base. Your lilies pop with the gold embossing and that beautiful metallic gouache paints you used! Striking for sure! Hugs, Brenda

Its so cool that you had such a perfect background in your stash for that gorgeous lily, Lolly. Haha, lily lolly! I think that will be your new nickname because lilies are your favorite flowers except it is a tongue twister for me. I karack myself up. Back to you then, your painting really makes the flower come alive. Even so, I think that black beauty you created steals the show on this post! Those shimmery metallic paints and the gold-embossing make this stunner exceptional! Take care! Hugs, Dolly
