Stamping Friends are the BEST!

Hi everyone.  Today I'm sharing a card I watercoloured using Arteza Mica Powders.  My dear friend Barb won a set of 60 colours and she generously mailed 52 of them to me!  She just kept a few out for herself to play with, but thought I would get more use from them.

The colours and the sparkle is gorgeous.  Mica Powders do not have a bonding agent, so if you brushed them or smooshed them with water onto a piece of card stock, the colours would dry and then brush off.  You need to add something to make them stick.  For watercolouring, I added Gum Arabic (also used for many other purposes - most familiar to me is blending pencil colouring).  The ratio for mixing is 1 part Gum Arabic to 4 parts Mica Powder.

The card above stamped and heat embossed in Gold (Beautiful Bouquet Dahlia - W Plus 9), then watercoloured with three colours of Mica Powders (Red Raspberry, Iris Purple, Spring Green).  So pretty!  Thanks again Barb!!

These powders make it a difficult card to photograph.  I have done my best to try to capture the shimmer from these amazing powders below ... they really are special!

Thanks for stopping by!

OMG...what a beautiful and generous gift, Lolly and well deserved. Love how you watercolored and fussy cut your pretty bouquet. The die cut corner adds such a beautiful texture too. BTW, is the shine similar to Magicals? TFS my friend. Love and Hugs..Nancy

Oh how we love our shimmer. I do have Gum Arabic but never knew what to do with it. You always manage to make CAS look so fantastic, elegant and somehow effortless. I still struggle.

Such a soft, pretty effect. I've only one tiny pot of Mica Powder and rarely use it. I did once use Versamark to capture the pesky powder! Such a generous gift. :)

How sweet of Barb to share these mica powders with you Loll! I wouldn't have a clue how to use them. lol But I know you know a lot about these kinds of products, so Barb sent them to a great person who will get use out of them. Your card is stunning! I love that flower bouquet and I bet the shimmer in real life is stunning. The corner cut out gives so much visual interest as well. Very cool and gorgeous card! Hugs, Brenda

Absolutely BEAUTIFUL Loll! And what a fabulous gift!! How do they compare to Lindy's Magicals?? Are they as shimmery as the Magicals, or less, or more so? Lovely, lovely card!! Hugs. :0)
