Dolly's Birthday

Hi everyone.  Today is Dolly's birthday (Darnell to most of you).  I "met" her on-line not long after starting my blog in 2010.  We have been friends every since.  And lucky for me, I have had the pleasure of spending time with her (and sometimes Mister) over the years.

I wanted to make something just for her and I believe I have picked her favourite colours (turquoise and green).  I started the card with a 6" square card base, masking off a 1/4" border.  Then sponged soft gray through a beautiful stencil from Funky Fossil called Petal Burst (a gift from a sweet friend).  LOVE this stencil!  I then lightly inked up a stamp (Script from Penny Black), dabbed off some ink and then stamped it on the left side at the bottom.  Placed my flower stencil over top (Fading Florals from Simon Says Stamp).  This is a slimline stencil, so I angled it to get the look I wanted and then taped it down, masking off a few partial leaves.  Then I used my sponging brushes to add ink ... the small heads really make getting into tight spaces easier.  I used Distress Inks:  Mowed Lawn for the leaves; Cracked Pistachio and Pine Needles for the Flowers and berries.  I used my white Posca pen (acrylic) to add some details before stamping the sentiment from Special Sentiments (Penny Black) set.

I added more stenciling on the inside and on the envelope, so sharing those below.  The inside panel looks more like one of my usual CAS style cards. :)

Inside ...
Envelope ...
I sponged Distress Glaze over top of the stenciling on the envelope to seal the ink.

I'm so happy that I also used two NBUS items on Dolly's card. :)  So I'm heading over to enter this card into NBUS Challenge #28 (petal burst stencil, fading florals stencil).

And ... adding this to the Just Us Girls #591 - Word Week Challenge ... Script.  Thanks Bobby!

I did mail this a week ago and I'm not sure Dolly received it yet ... I'm thinking not.  So this is just a little sneak peek of your card Dolly.

Wishing you the BEST Birthday ever, dear friend!!!
Love you!

Wow, Loll. The creativity in this is just amazing. It’s obviously a work of heart. Inside too! This one just grabs me- the color, the design, alll of it. So sad when we can’t time our cards to arrive promptly no matter how early or late we send them. BUT she has a treasure when she receives it.

I'm not sure how I missed this but oh boy what a beauty. I'm sure Darnell did love it. It's so pretty. I had a look see when I was over at NBUS looking to see what pretties everyone had that was new. Makes me want that stencil real bad, Loll. So bad that I went and put it on my wish list.

Let me add that the envelope is just as lovely.[Bunny]
