Penny Black - New Day

Hi everyone.   I'm sharing two products from Penny Black's new release - Scent of Spring 2024.  The card above uses the lovely stamp New Day, which is stamped in Versamark and heat embossed in gold.  I started by sponging the bottom right corner using Salvaged Patina over a Background Basics stencil (Penny Black - 25-021).  Distress Inks re-inkers were used to watercolour the flowers and foliage (Shabby Shutters, Mowed Lawn, Mustard Seed, Spiced Marmalade, Kitsch Flamingo, Picked Raspberry, Shaded Lilac, and Wilted Violet).  Gray Granite (SU!) was used for the watering can.

I wanted to add something more to the image, so used the new release embossing folder Noted (Penny Black 65-005) to dry emboss the whole panel.  I wanted the embossing to be subtle, so I ran my card front through my embossing machine a second time, without the embossing folder but with lots of shims to add pressure.  This flattened out the dry embossing so it has a softer look, but you can still see it.

To finish, the smile die (Heartfelt - Penny Black 51-093) was cut from gold metallic paper and glued to the bottom of the card.

Close-up ...

I'm sending this card to Penny Black Saturday Challenge - March.  The optional theme is "Easter" ... I've used Easter colours for my flowers.

What a great idea for getting a subtler look to dry embossing. I will be using this tip for sure!

Just returned home from our monthly trip to our wonderful Asian food market - I spotted a wonderful big bunch of daffodils blooming in someone's yard, Loll - wished I could have 'borrowed' them!
Your darling pitcher full of blooms is just as delightful!

I adore your beautiful can full of spring flowers and so prettily watercoloured as always Loll, and the embossed script works brilliantly over the whole thing, and love the blue ink blended corner which leads you to the fabulous flowers, and to finish the gold die cut sentiment coordinates perfectly with the gold embossed outlines of the image...this would brighten the dullest day! x

Beautiful painting of the bouquet, Lolly! And what a great design feature to add, and then flatten, the dry embossing over the top of the whole panel! Hugs, Dolly
