IDEAS May - Embossing Folders

Hi everyone.  It's time for the next IDEAS Challenge with Darnell.  This week is "E for Embossing Folders".

I used a NBUS embossing folder for the background (Variegated - Penny Black).  I inked up the inside (deboss) of the embossing folder, added a piece of regular card stock and then ran it through my Gemini Jr.  LOVE how it turned out.  The soft green (Shabby Shutters Distress Ink) fills in the background while the embossing raises the white leaves and gives them dimension.  I cut the panel down to 2 1/2" x 3 1/4".  The Sketch Daisy die (Memory Box) was cut from white card stock.  The flower was sponged with Distress Inks (Saltwater Taffy, Abandoned Coral, Crackling Campfire).  The leaves were sponged with Shabby Shutter and Peeled Paint.  To finish, a simple Hello sentiment (Stampendous) was stamped in more of the Peeled Paint distress ink.

I'm sending the above card to three challenges (listed below with links):

It's been a while since you've seen a photo of Jessie.  She turned five a few days ago --- time flies!  We're now been living with Jeremy, Alex and their dog, Violeta.  Jessie gets a walk everyday ... sometimes two! :)  She has definitely lost a bit of weight and is looking good, especially with her new hair cut that Jer and I gave her.  She is loving life with a full house.  There's always something happening and someone to play with. :)

On a personal note, this has been the right decision for hubby and I.  We love spending time with the family and they have been wonderful looking after chores that are now too much for us (gardening, grocery shopping, etc.).  Plus we get the benefit of Alex's amazing cooking skills a few times a week as we share the cooking duties.  We are blessed!

Thanks for stopping by!

Stamps:  Spring Sentiments - retired (Stampendous)
Paper:   White card stock (Neenah 110 lb.); Mixed Media (Strathmore 140 lb.)
Ink:  Distress Inks:  Shabby Shutters, Saltwater Taffy, Abandoned Coral (Tim Holtz); Cameo Coral Stampin' Up Writer
Accessories:   Variegated embossing folder (Penny Black); Floral Stem Collage die - retired (Poppy Stamps), watercolour brushes, Jewel Drops (Nuvo)

Hi Loll - Your card, as usual is very delightful and I'm happy to hear your move has worked so well for you and your hubby, Jess, Jer, Alex and Violetta. Jess looks wonderful and I'm quite sure she is enjoying the walks, extra playtime with Violetta and the extra attention. Belated 5th birthday wishes for Jess. (It was the 19th, right?)

I love how your card turned out with that bit of softly colored embossing and the fun, pretty flower growing up the front of it. I have trouble doing this inking technique to my satisfaction, but this looks amazing! I'm super extra happy to see Jessie today, too! She's so pretty and Alex does the most outstanding photography. You and Jer did a fabulous job with her hair cut! I'm really glad the move is working out so well for ALL of you. It seriously does make my heart happy!

How lovely that Jessie also is enjoying the new location! She is just adorable and looks lovely with her new cut!

How fun that we were on the same wave length ~ talk about sistahs! Thank you for playing with my I.D.E.A.S. and NBUS! I love the design you created with your embossed panel. The die cut flower goes perfectly with the background. A beautiful hello for spring!

Of course, you know Jessie stole the show! She is so pretty and her expression just hits my heart! That Alex can always make a living making pet portraits! I'm so happy for you, for all of you, that you made this life-changing decision and that it's working out! Love, Dolly

I'm so happy for you, Loll! It is awesome when we can have family around and get the much-needed help too.
Your card is beautiful, I love the sweet embossing folder inked up -- it makes a great background for your fun but delicate flower. So cute!

Love that EF you've used Loll, such a pretty background to the die cut bloom. Glad to hear that you've settled into your new digs and that Jessie has too. I think Max would be so much more settled if we lived where he could interact with more people and doggy friends instead of just us two and the family when we meet up. :)

Sounds like you are in your happy space. Have been Mia for some time now as we are moving also to be close to family. We sold our small farm and on the home stretch now. So missing my playtime but enjoying looking at others work. Haven't had time to comment but looking and you have entertained me with yours and made me happy. Big hugs my friend.

Beautiful card Loll...CAS perfection!! But like everyone else has said, Jessie kinda steals the show here!! She is just so dang CUTE and Alex sure knows how to photograph her! I'm so glad to hear that this move has been the right decision for all of you and that everyone has been settling in just fine! Getting older sure can be a pain, but so much easier when there's family to help! Lots of hugs my friend!! :0)

That was the perfect folder to ink up and display behind your darling little flower.
I'm so glad that your decision to move in with your son is working out so well, Loll. We made that decision 3 1/2 years ago although it is only part-time. We have our own living space but share a kitchen and cooking duties. But it does give me time to spend with my daughter as she says "before I have to start taking care of you."
