Hi everyone. This month the Group of Seven are showcasing another Design Element - Monochromatic. Gof7 definition is shades of one colour, plus small accents of white, black, or metallic.
Please check out the many wonderful inspiration cards from members of the Group.
For the card above I used the Peony Bundle embossing folder (Simon Says Stamp) with mixed media paper. I started by sponging lightly with small detail sponges over the raised design in shades of orange distress inks (Wild Honey, Spiced Marmalade, Ripe Persimmon, Crackling Campfire). It turned out OK, but the colour was not smooth, so I went over the sponging with a wet waterbrush and more ink to get a smoother finish. I did go outside the lines of the embossing a few times and used a small amount of bleach with a brush to clean them up --- worked great!
To finish, I used a white pen to add details for the flowers and leaves and then added a simple sentiment (Endless Birthday wishes - retired SU!), stamped in more Crackling Campfire.

Sending the above card to Can You Handle the Pressure? - Anything Embossing Goes - I did not use the optional twist this time.

This time I used different shades of gray, along with black and white card stock. I decided to make a sympathy card, but this card could be used for many other occasions.
This was a very simple and easy card to make. I started with a panel of black card stock and the lovely Vine Canopy embossing folder (Simon Says Stamp). I inked the inside raised design (direct from stamp) with Lost Shadow Distress Oxide ink, placed my black panel inside and ran it through my Gemini Jr. The ink transferred to the debossed side to create a lovely background panel for my leafy sprig (Dignified - Penny Black). I popped up the panel onto my white card base and stamped a sentiment (Many Everyday Messages - retired - Hero Arts) in Hickory Smoke Distress Oxide ink.

Two gorgeous cards Loll. Your black card is so dramatic in the blacks and greys, and your orange flowers are so beautifully coloured ♥
Love, love that yellow/orange beauty Loll - great tip on getting smoother color coverage and mistake erasers!! Your gray card is perfect for a sympathy with the pretty inked embossed background and that wonderful stem! Julia xx
Of course, you know you 'had me' at grey, right? Plus I am a sucker for any leafy die cut at all, Loll!
Both are fabulous - hope to give that monochromatic card a try!

Two beauties, Loll! I'm with, Michele, the gray really caught my eye!
Gorgeous cards! Love this look!
I love your first card - I can feel the heat coming off it!
Sandy xx
Both are gorgeous, Loll! The first is bright, sunny and happy plus the second card could make a great masculine, as well as your Sympathy card!
Wow! Both cards are stunning!
Both your monochrome designs are wonderful, Lolly! Great coloring on that first gold and bold first flower and thank you for the tip about the bleach!! And I love the striking second design and how it's versatile for any occasion! Hugs, Dolly
An amazing pair of cards Loll - the bright floral is absolutely stunning, and the sympathy one CAS perfection. Love the subtlety of the grey ink on the black cardstock
Blessings

WOW! Both so very beautiful. x
Two fab cards but I think the black one is particularly classy! :)
Whether bright and sunny or dark and moody, your monochrome cards show the technique and look terrific, Loll.
Both are wonderful cards, and create such different moods! I love the bright, sunny yellows (especially on a dark, dreary day here in western NY), and the black/gray card is so elegant!
Beautiful shades of orange on the first card - so vibrant and so cheerful. The second one in shades of grey is a perfect CAS sympathy card (or would be a good masculine design). It was fun doing different methods of creating monochromatic cards!
Love your choice of colours! Fabulous card!
Beautiful cards Lol. Thanks for the tip on cleaning up the lines when you go over. I was wondering how you managed to keep it so clean. Two lovely monochromatic cards xx xx

Your first card is absolutely stunning! The vibrant yellow/orange shades on white are gorgeous! Cool trick to use bleach to brush away the stray ink. Then I got all lost in your second card. It's so very soothing and deep. It might even be my favorite of the two. Amazing how the Lost Shadow DOX showed up on black. Those PB leaves are really winning my heart. Got another wish list going. It's endless!
Your cards are so beautiful. I am such a fan of the monochrome look, and you have achieved it perfectly!! Lots of wonderful work here and great take on the challenge. Thanks so much for playing along with us over at Can You Handle the Pressure, I hope we see you back again soon!!

Where is the die from from the 2nd card? It is absolutely stunning card, and I love that grey die cut.
I love this technique! Coloring embossed elements is a brilliant solution. I love your choice of colors, like the Inca gold floral mask. The second card is perfect for expressing condolences.
xx
Two beautiful cards, I like them both very much but card #2 really floats my boat! Jo x
