Gently Falling Maple Leaf

Today is the Color Challenge from SCS - More Mustard, Tangerine Tango and Soft Suede.  Lovely fall colors so it was hard for me to think of anything other than leaves!!  I used my new Gently Falling stamp set again - it's so beautiful, I can't get enough of it.  I also used the CAS (clean & simple) sketch challenge from yesterday.  Today's card is made with all SU! products.

Hope you like.

"Gently Falling Maple Leaf"

Stamps:  Gently Falling (2-part), Happy Moments (SU!)
Paper:  Soft Suede, Whisper White, Watercolor, Autumn Traditions DP (retired) (SU!)
Ink:  Soft Suede, More Mustard, Tangerine Tango
Accessories & Tools:  water mister, Stamp-a-ma-jig, sponges, hemp twine, adhesives, glue, and dimensionals

I randomly colored the inside part of the maple leaf with More Mustard and Tangerine Tango Stampin' Write markers.  I misted the stamp with water three times and then stamped onto watercolor paper.  I let it dry.  I inked the outside part of the maple leaf with Soft Suede ink and stamped overtop of the watercoloring, using the Stamp-a-ma-jig for positioning.  I cut out the maple leaf and then sponged around the outside edges with more Soft Suede ink.

I cut a strip of Autumn Traditions DP and sponged around the outside edges with Soft Suede to tie it into the look of the maple leaf.  I adhered the strip to a large piece of Whisper White cardstock.  I stamped the sentiment (Happy Moments) in Soft Suede ink in the lower right corner.  I mounted the panel onto a card base of Soft Suede.

I mounted the watercolored maple leaf onto the front of the card, popping it up with dimensionals to add depth.  I tied the hemp twine into a bow and glued it on top of the leaf stem.

Owl on a Limb

I always look forward to Monday mornings because it's CAS Challenge time!!  Today's challenge is a sketch from elmo98ca (current member of the CAS Design Team).  Love the sketch and had fun putting my own spin on it.  I realized after I was finished making the card and took a picture, that I missed rounding the corners (ooops!).  Hope you like.

"Out on a Limb"

Stamps:  Season of Friendship (SU!); On a Limb (Stampendous)
Paper:  Garden Green, Whisper White, Soft Suede (SU!); Grass paper, scraps of assorted DP (unknown)
Ink:  Early Espresso (SU!)
Accessories & Tools:  Owl 2-part punch, Grass die-cut (Cheery Lynn), Big Shot, Tombow glue, sticky strips and adhesives

* * * * *

I inked the tree stamp with Early Espresso and stamped onto Whisper White cardstock.  I cut the tree out and down to the size I wanted.

I cut a strip of grass paper with a wave at the top to represent hills of grass.  Using a darker grass paper, I used the grass die-cut from Cheery Lynn Designs and then cut the strip in half so I had two layers.  I glued the two strips of thin grass at the bottom of the "hills".  I glue the tree on top.

I inked the sentiment with Early Espresso ink and stamped on top of the lighter grass.  I punched out the owl and glued the pieces together with Tombow glue.  I mounted the owl in the tree with sticky strips.
The front panel was mounted to a card base of Garden Green.

In the Studio with Fran

Today Fran came over and spent a couple of hours with me in the art studio.  I showed her how to do the Iris Fold technique and she will be using that for her Christmas card this year.  Thanks Fran for coming over and hanging out - it was so much fun!!

While Fran was working on her card, I played around with another idea I had for a Christmas card.  Thanks to Kelly for lending me her Snowflake embossing folder - it's so pretty!

"Christmas Ornaments"

Stamps:  Gifts of Christmas (SU!); Peace (Anita's stamps)
Paper:  Cherry Cobbler, Whisper White (SU!)
Ink:  Cherry Cobbler, Old Olive, Daffodil Delight, VersaMark (SU!)
Accessories & Tools:  ornament punch, three silver eyelets, silver elastic, Cuttlebug "Snowflakes" embossing folder, sponges, ice embossing powder, heat tool, tape, sticky strips and dimensionals

* * * * *

I inked the Peace stamp first with VersaMark and then with Old Olive ink.  I stamped onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock and quickly embossed with the ice embossing powder to add a little glitter (hard to tell in the photo).  I punched out with the ornament punch.

I inked the poinsettia stamp using Stampin' Write markers and stamped onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock.  I did a second stamping and then punched both out with the ornament punch.

I sponged Old Olive ink around the edges of all three ornaments and then added a silver eyelet to the top of each.  I threaded silver elastic through each eyelet and set them aside.

I ran a large piece of Whisper White cardstock through my Big Shot with the Snowflakes embossing folder.  I used dimensionals to add the ornaments on top of the embossed panel and pulled the silver elastic to the back and secured with tape.

I mounted the panel onto a card base of Cherry Cobbler.

Stack of Gifts

I think I'm obsessed with the paper piecing challenge from earlier this week (Monday's "Clean & Simple - CAS137)" challenge from Splitcoaststampers.

I was looking at my bin of leftover DP and decided I needed to make another card using this fun technique ... notice the word "needed" :)

Here's a fun and whimsical birthday card using the color challenge from last week (CC341 - Tempting Turquoise, Pumpkin Pie, Old Olive) - I substituted Tangerine Tango for the Pumpkin Pie.  This is a quick and easy card made with all SU! products.

Hope you like.

"Stack of Gifts"

Stamps:  Happy Moments, Bitty Birthday (SU!)
Paper:  Old Olive, Whisper White, Tempting Turquoise, assorted DP (retired) (SU!)
Ink:  Tangerine Tango, Early Espresso (SU!)
Accessories & Tools:  Stamp-a-ma-jig, adhesives

* * * * *

I inked the stack of gifts stamp with Early Espresso and stamped onto a large piece of Whisper White cardstock.  I re-inked the stamp and stamped again onto each of the two different patterned DP.  I took a piece of Tempting Turquoise and "splattered" it with Whisper White ink using a toothbrush and water (I didn't have any patterned paper with Tempting Turquoise, so made my own!).  Once it was dry, I stamped overtop with the stack of gifts in Early Espresso ink.  I cut out all the gifts and then took time to figure out which one I liked better for the top, middle and bottom presents.  I adhered the DP to the Whisper White cardstock.

I used the Stamp-a-ma-jig to find the best position for my sentiment and then stamped it in Tangerine Tango ink.  I mounted the front panel onto a card base of Old Olive cardstock.  Done!
