J-O-Y #6

Hi everyone.  I'm back with my sixth card using the Immense JOY die from Penny Black.  I smiled the whole time I was watercolouring this image.  It is so sweet! :)

The stamp is Hopping By (Penny Black).  I used black ink, heat embossed in clear, and watercoloured with my Zigs.

For the background I used kraft card stock dry embossed with a snowflake embossing folder (Cuttlebug).  I used my white pigment ink pad to lightly swipe over top to catch the highlights of the embossed design before adding the JOY die and watercoloured bunny over top.

IDEAS - Embossing Folders

Hi everyone.  It's time for the next IDEAS Challenge with Darnell.  This week is "E for Embossing Folders".

I used an embossing folder (Blossom - Crafts-Too) that was gifted from a friend, embossing a white background panel.  This was it's first outing.  I love the sweet floral design - perfect for spring cards.  I also used a circle die (Butterfly Frond - Memory Box - retired) that I won from a challenge - another first time being used. :)  I cut the top layer of the circle die with mixed media paper and then watercoloured the fronds and butterfly with Distress Inks (Shabby Shutters, Peeled Paint, Salvage Patina, Mermaid Lagoon).  I layered another circle die-cut from white card to add some depth.

A simple sentiment (Happy Messages - Stampendous) was stamped in white pigment ink onto black card stock and then heat embossed in white.  I adhered it to the bottom of the circle die and cut off any excess black card.

Can You Handle the Pressure? Mar. 9 Challenge

Penny Black - New Day

Hi everyone.   I'm sharing two products from Penny Black's new release - Scent of Spring 2024.  The card above uses the lovely stamp New Day, which is stamped in Versamark and heat embossed in gold.  I started by sponging the bottom right corner using Salvaged Patina over a Background Basics stencil (Penny Black - 25-021).  Distress Inks re-inkers were used to watercolour the flowers and foliage (Shabby Shutters, Mowed Lawn, Mustard Seed, Spiced Marmalade, Kitsch Flamingo, Picked Raspberry, Shaded Lilac, and Wilted Violet).  Gray Granite (SU!) was used for the watering can.

I wanted to add something more to the image, so used the new release embossing folder Noted (Penny Black 65-005) to dry emboss the whole panel.  I wanted the embossing to be subtle, so I ran my card front through my embossing machine a second time, without the embossing folder but with lots of shims to add pressure.  This flattened out the dry embossing so it has a softer look, but you can still see it.

To finish, the smile die (Heartfelt - Penny Black 51-093) was cut from gold metallic paper and glued to the bottom of the card.

More Masked Stenciling for Group of Seven

Hi everyone.  Another card for February's Group of Seven technique - Masked Stenciling.

Group of Seven Cardmakers

This time I die-cut a "hello" mask and adhered it temporarily to my card front.  Peacock Feathers Distress ink was lightly sponged over the card front before adding the Wander & Find stencil (Carta Bella) over top.  I added more sponging over the stencil with Distress Inks: Peacock Feathers, Rusty Hinge, and Gathered Twigs.  Sponging the masked background first with a light colour allows the masked area to pop.  Adding stenciling overtop gives the background so much interest.
