CAS Watercolour June Challenge

Hi everyone.  Welcome to the start of the CAS Watercolour June Challenge.  This month, the very talented Bonnie (Stamping with Klass) is our host.

I love being at the ocean or looking out at the ocean.  I find it very peaceful and calming.   Hubby and I always spend our vacations doing just that. :)

Today I'm sharing a card that doesn't have a lot of stamping.  I started by splash watercolouring the sand.  See my video HERE for instructions on this technique.  I used smooshing for the sky and acetate smooshing for the water.   A water stamp and reed stamp from Stampscapes added a bit of interest and birds were hand drawn with a black pen.  I used my white gel pen to add a few highlights to the waves (we call those white caps here). :)  The sentiment was stamped several times using the misti in the same colour of ink as the sand, producing a dark brown sentiment.

Here's a close-up ...
We are thrilled to have Robyn (Waterlily Cards by Robyn) as our Guest Designer this month.  Please check out the challenge blog to see the watercoloured Ocean cards from Robyn and our talented Designers.  Then come play along.  The challenge is open until June 24th.

Absolutely GORGEOUS card, Loll! I love how you used a different watercolor technique for the sky, water and sand...it really adds so much dimension to your design! I also love your minimal stamping on this card...it's just perfect!!!

I love the dimension you achieved with your sand and grass. It gives the allusion of standing on a seawall looking down at the ocean waves and beautiful sky with the sea birds flying overhead. Adding your gel pen to your waves looks so much like white caps. You can tell you have spent lots of time at the beach. TFS dear friend. Hugs..

I love looking out over the ocean too Loll, I just don't like going into the ocean. lol Or the sand much. I love this ocean view on your card, it looks so real right down to the white caps, which is what we call them too. This card is so beautiful! Hugs, Brenda

Oh Wow! The water caught my eye immediately on this one. I love Stampscapes but never quite mastered those. Love the way you used his texture stamp on the water and love the texture you achieved in the sand by splashing. Amazing results, Loll!

Your card is stunning. Love the beautiful simplicity of it. Did you tape off the water and sand sections so as to not get ink in the areas you didn't want it?

This card is absolutely STUNNING Loll! All 3 areas are done so beautifully, but I really love how you did the water with the white gel pen for the whitecaps...so realistic looking!! Your simple addition of the grasses make this such a serene scene and I wish I could go just sit on the beach right now and listen to the waves. Lovely, lovely card my friend!! :0)
