Pink Poinsettias

Hi everyone.  Had to make another pink Christmas card for Jingle Belles.

This time I used cold press watercolour paper, which I tend to not use as much any more.  I really love the look and how it worked with the splash watercolour technique (click on link for video tutorial), so need to start using it again! :)  I love those pretty pink and white variegated poinsettias, so tried to recreate using Lindy's magicals (just one colour of pink) and quite a bit of water.

I die-cut the poinsettias in three sizes and layered them to create two different sized flowers.  I added a bit of sparkle to the centers, although that doesn't show in the photo.  I adhered them to a die-cut oval mesh and added a simple sentiment banner.  I mounted the main elements over top of a dry embossed background (folder came with my Gemini Jr. die-cutting machine).  I then popped the whole thing up onto a watercolour card base.  I used the same watercolour paper for all the parts of the card so they matched ... it's a very lovely soft cream colour.

Here's a close-up ...
There's still some time to play long with this challenge ... it's open until the 17th.  For every entry, Stephanie and Laurel will donate $2 to Breast Cancer Research.  Come play along and help to donate to charity!!

Stamps:  Short & Sweet (SU! - retired)

This is so pretty Loll. The poinsettias look fabulous with the splash watercoloring. You know after learning few techniques from you, I have been incorporating them so much in my cards. I see your cards, doing similar techniques a little differently and it makes me stop and take notice of it ... see how Loll plays, a little differently every time!

This one is pure elegance, from the beautifully formed flowers to the gorgeous embossed background and lattice oval! That folder makes the paper look like a textured paper. Love the variegated colors on your poinsettias too. How cool that you got that many layers on two different sizes. Love this.

Another "Wow" card, Loll! I love it! Your splash watercoloured Magical pink poinsettias are so pretty. And the oval mesh window and the dry embossed panel in the background generate so much interest and dimension in an elegant way. The watercolor paper's soft cream color and the subtle texture add warmth to the card.

The pink poinsettia florals are so lovely with the variegated coloring. You also picked a beautiful mesh oval to show them off, and I do like the embossing pattern too. The linen texture of the paper is SO pretty! (I'm off to look for that die, as ovals are my fav shapes!) TFS
