CAS Mix Up June Challenge

Hi everyone.  It's the start of the CAS Mix Up June Challenge.  June??!!  How did that happen??  :)

The challenge is being hosted by our amazing Mac (Sweetest of Peas).  And we are thrilled to have Bobby (bits & pieces) as our Guest Designer this month.  Welcome Bobby!

I do love the look of ombre on a card.  I usually sponge the background (which I did for the card above), but you want also watercolour with lots of different mediums to create an ombre effect.  Or even used coloured card stock.  Lots of options.

For my card I used just one colour of distress ink (Abandoned Coral).  I sponged onto regular card stock, adding lots of layers to gradually build the colour.  I placed a leaf stencil over top of my background, pressed with Versamark, and heat embossed with Kaleidoscope embossing powder.  I LOVE the colours that this has in it.  It's mostly clear, but you can see glittery bits of purple, pink, blue.  I bought it a while ago, but this was the first time I've tried it.  Definitely need to keep it handy so I can use it lots. :)  Hard to see in the above photo, but the close-up shows it off really well.

The panel was adhered to a card base and then an antique die-cut frame was popped over top.  A wildflowers silhouette die-cut was placed in the aperture and a simple sentiment was stamped to finish the card.

Here's the close-up ...
I hope you'll have time to check out the challenge blog to see the beautiful ombre CAS cards by our Designers and wonderful Guest Designer, Bobby!  Lots to look at!!

Then come join us!

Such a wow card. The coral ombre is the perfect compliment to that kaleidoscope EP. The black wildflower silhouette allow that BG to proudly shine through without stealing the show. A beautiful card dear friend xx

This is such a striking looking card. Love the way you developed the ombre background with sponging. The die cut from black and the antique frame all pull together beautifully.

The Abandoned Coral looks so pretty Loll and the added sparkle of the heat embossing on the leaves and the added contrast of the black die cut and framed beautifully with that PB Antique Frame, such an unusual shape, and a lovely simple coordinating sentiment too. x

What impact that embossing powder gives your inky background, Loll. Your way with small background panels and wonderful silhouette die cuts is amazing.

This is absolutely BEAUTIFUL Loll!! As I'm looking at it I wondering why I don't have Abandoned Coral?!! Then I started looking through all my DI and DOX's and at the bottom of my DOX drawer, there is the Abandoned Coral...it's on the top of the pile now! Such a beautiful color and your ombre blending is fabulous!! Also really like the sparkly leaves you stenciled over the top...really takes this lovely card up another notch! And of course the silhouette wild flowers and die cut frame all make this such an AWESOME card...LOVE it!! :0)

You are the first person I've seen who ever got the ombre effect with just one color and so brilliantly done! Love that embossing powder- all the sparkle in it! Your silhouette die cut is so perfect on this.

Another beautiful card Loll! I love that ombre effect you got, but I really love the stenciled glittery "leaves" on that ombre background. So fun! Your die is beautiful too and really pops off that background. Hugs, Brenda
