Be Joyful

Hi everyone.  Today's card is for the CAS Christmas July Reminder - Snowflake Challenge, hosted by the wonderful Bonnie.

We also have a fantastic Guest Desiger Jane, joining us this month!

I seem to be in the mode of recovery lately.  This is a stencil monoprint that just didn't work as well as I had hoped.  The snowflakes weren't very clear, but I was happy with the colour of the inked background.  So I took a fine silver metallic pen and outlined the snowflakes.  Looks way better. :)  Thank goodness I was able to use it because my "stash" of failed backgrounds container is at it's limit. :)

Two snowhills were created by tearing the edge of white paper and layering at the bottom of the panel.  The graceful reindeer was heat embossed in silver three times, giving it a thick and shiny coat.

Here's a close-up ...
There's still a week left to play along with our challenge if you haven't had time yet.  Create a CAS Christmas card that has a snowflake or snowflakes and join us.

Stamps:  Big Scripty Greetings - Holiday (Simon Says Stamp)

Ink:  Distress Inks:  Broken Glass, Salty Ocean, Wilted Violet (Tim Holtz); Versamark
Accessories & Tools:  Snowflake stencil (Paper Artsy), water mister, silver metallic pen, Leap of Joy die (Penny Black), silver embossing powder, heat tool

Holy cow, there's nothing about this background that appears "failed". My background drawer is pushing the limits, but I doubt I have anything this pretty in there. Still, when used on just the right card with just the right stamps... this looks fantastic with the silver embossed deer. Wow!

Your 'dreamy' background is so pretty, and I love how you outlined the snowflakes with a silver pen...so clever! I also love your embossed deer and how you created the snow hills...another really gorgeous Christmas card, Loll! Barb xx

Once you fixed up that background with the silver pen, it certainly no longer qualifies as "failed" - I'd give it a top score for being truly beautiful!! Wonderful soft colours! And the triple embossed deer is fabulous! Perfect sentiment as well as the deer looks so joyful.

Beautiful card Loll, and it's good to hear that I am not the only one with a stash of 'backgrounds that didn't work' to use :)

I wished I had more failed backgrounds like this! Beautiful card, Loll. Outlining the snowflakes is a brilliant save. Love the deer... looks like a metal charm. I need to try this. xx

Great save! I wish my failed backgrounds looked that good! I have a stash of backgrounds I am ever so slowly working my way through. They're stuffed in a bag and there is absolutely no room for more. I wish you hadn't said "box" cause I could easily just relocate the bagged items to a bigger container and keep adding to them! LOL I may not be making a ton of cards, but I stay busy making backgrounds!!! Love how your card turned out!

I can't imagine you failing at anything Loll, must less have a filled container of fails. This card is stunning! I love how you have outlined the snowflakes, makes them stand out off the paper and your embossed deer works perfectly with this outline. Love, love, love. Hugs, Brenda

Love this card--the reindeer die (which I have) looks so good with the large silver outlined snowflakes and embossed with 3 layers for a nice rich look. I like that it is a scene -- a very realistic looking one.
