September Rudolph Days

Hi everyone.  I'm entering this card into September's Rudolph Days over at Maureen's blog.  I've been playing along all year and it has helped me build my stash of Christmas cards.

The above card was an experiment.  It didn't turn out exactly as I had hoped, but it's pretty.

I received a few pieces of this gorgeous dry embossed image from my sweet friend, Bonnie.  This was ages ago.  I forgot I had them and came across them the other day.

I lightly ran my versamark over top, hoping to catch the highlights of the design, and then heat embossed in white.  It's a bit tricky using a stamp pad for this.  I should have tried my brayer - it might have worked better.

I cut a strip off one side and then smooshed with brushos.  I found that the colour seeped into the raised design as it wasn't heat embossed well enough to resist.  I ended up going over the design with a white gel pen.  It took a while. :)

Attached the two pieces of the snowflake to my card front and added a simple white heat embossed black banner for some contrast.

Close-up ...

Stamps:  Snowglobe sentiments (My Favorite Things)
Paper:  Mixed Media; Black (SU!)
Ink:  Versamark

I really love this Lol! When I first saw it, I thought "wow! How did she do that?" I know what you mean about something not going right, and when you have to fuss with it, you wonder if it's worth it, but really, this looks fabulous.

When I first saw your card I was thinking "how'd she do that?" This would never have occurred to me. It's original and creative and looks wonderful! You come up with some great techniques!

This is beautiful, Loll! I haven't done anything with that embossing folder myself. Thanks for the inspiration although I don't know that I have enough patience to go back over it with a gel pen. It was worth the effort though.

That reminds me, Loll that I got a few of these large dry eb snowflakes from Bonnie too. Thank you for sharing your card and the inspiration. Hugs..Nancy

It's very pretty - love the shades of blue on one half and the all white on the other half. It was worth persevering even if it was time consuming to add the white gel pen.

A wonderful result Loll, even if it did take longer than you anticipated. That brusho background is amazing and adds just so much interest to the overall design

This is so pretty, Loll! I love the colors of the brusho smooshed panel and the wonderful design. The gel pen recovery was so good that I cannot tell how and where you did it.

I have no sense of how to press the Versamark sponge firmly and I always have either spots or deficiencies in the EP cover. Fortunately, you did a great job with the penetration of color under the white pattern. The card is wonderful and so ingeniously designed
