Coral Peonies

Hi everyone.  Not sure if peonies come in coral, but that's the great thing about making our own ... freedom to choose whatever colours you want.

I had three things on my mind when making this card.  First, I wanted to join in the Poppy Stamps challenge this month which is CAS.  Then I wanted to use navy and one other colour for The Flower Challenge.  I also needed a sympathy card and when I was figuring out the sentiment for this card, it just worked.  I rarely use navy on my cards so thanks to TFC for taking me outside my colour box!

Masked off the bottom and side of my card front and sponged with Chipped Sapphire.  Placed a stencil over top and used a baby wipe to remove some of the colour, leaving a subtle design for my background.  Stamped and heat embossed the peonies in liquid platinum, watercoloured with distress inks, and die-cut using a matching die to my image.  Stamped the sentiment and popped up the flower for added dimension.  This was a quick and easy CAS card to make! :)

Hope you are all staying safe.

Thanks for coming by for a visit!

I love the rich colour of the Chipped Sapphire ink Loll, and using the baby wipe through the stencil to remove ink to form the pattern looks beautiful and I love the Abandoned Coral for the pretty flower, just perfect together. x

Beautiful color combo of Navy (Saffire) and Coral, Lolly. Sorry you had to make a sympathy card, but your card will be so appreciated. I loved your stencil technique for the background and heat embossed, watercolored and die cut peonies. TFS Love and Hugs..Nancy

Fabulous, Loll!! I watched a video from Jennifer (you know who I am talking about!) and she sponged on DI color, then put a stencil down and on top of it a baby wipe, then ran it through her die cut machine, it just left an impression but it also took away some of the color from the damp baby wipe! Your card reminded me of this...I must give it a try, I love how subtle it looks and adds lots of interest! Heart Hugs, Colleen

If peonies don't come in coral, they should! You've made us see that, Lolly, and, wow, do they ever POP against that navy corner background! You made it even more interesting by using a stencil to create a subtle pattern! I'm sorry you needed a sympathy card. Love, Dolly

The purpley blue of the Chipped Sapphire was the perfect choice to make your coral flower pop Loll. The subtle stenciled background was also a great idea.
Hope you are keeping well. :)

This is striking, Loll! That background for your artwork looks amazing. Love the effect of the baby wipe over your sponging using that stencil and love your watercolored image as always. You always manage to have your highlights and shadows when watercoloring, something I find impossible to do. Beautifully done.

I've never been much of a navy fan myself either, but have to admit I was pleasantly surprised by how pretty all the cards have been using that color. Including yours Loll! That stenciled background that just partially covers the bottom of your card is so striking and your coral colored Peony is beautiful! CAS and just perfect my friend...love it!! Hugs. :0)

I, too, hardly ever use navy, but it sure looks pretty with your coral peonies! I totally believe in making it up as you go along. They're gorgeous, especially with the silver embossing.

I think you are safe with your peony color Loll - they come in a myriad of colors! Yours is so pretty colored inside the silver embossing - and your navy stenciled background is so pretty fading in from the center and a great technique used! A lovely sympathy card! xx

There are so many colours of peonies Loll, I'm sure there are coral ones somewhere but if not I think they look gorgeous!! Love how you stenciled the background, have never heard of the baby wipe technique, I thought you had watercoloured it somehow, so cool. And how wonderful to get you using navy, I think you should use it more often. So very happy to see you at The Flower Challenge!!

Maybe there is no coral peony, but it is our world and here only imagination can limit us. That's why your coral peony is a real star. I also love the background, it contrasts beautifully. I'm sorry you needed a compassion card, Loll.
