Penny Black - Cup of Joy

Hi everyone.  I'm back with two more cards using the newest Penny Black release - Winter Wishes.

The card above started by making a stencil using the one of the new die-cuts called Cozy (51-671).  I cut Yupo to use as the stencil, it works really well and holds up for a long time.

I placed the stencil at the bottom of my card front and sponged overtop with Weathered Wood distress ink.  I used a Weathered Wood marker to add a line at the top of the design.

The Cup of Joy (30-746) image is stamped in black ink and clear embossed onto mixed media paper.  I used a mix of Distress Inks and Dye inks to watercolour the image.  I fussy cut the main part and set aside.  Stamped the image again onto my card front and paper pieced the deliciously-filled cup.  Used markers to add in the gray steam and red hearts.  Finished touches include adding Clear Wink of Stella to the cup and marshmellows.  Glaze is added to the candy canes and hearts to make them shine.  The sentiment, Bright & Light (30-762), is stamped in black and clear heat embossed to make it stand out more over the patterned strip.

A quick and easy card for the second, this design uses two die-cuts from the Wildwood set (51-657).

They are both watercoloured, one light brown, one dark brown; then layered to create a thicker frame.  The sentiment (Bright & Light 30-762) is stamped in black and clear embossed.  Two holly sprigs, (Holly Branches 51-662) are watercoloured, winked with clear Stella and glaze added to the berries before adhering to the side of the frame.  The frame and holly are placed over the sentiment and glued down randomly to give the frame some lift.

Thanks for coming by!

Love the appealing cup of Christmas cheer - the stencilling beneath it looks like a Christmas table cloth. And I love even more the second card - that wood frame is perfect to hold the holly branches and surround your sentiment (might have to buy that die set!).

Two completely fabulous cards! The cup is deliciously cute, all sparkled and glossed, and I really love the border. Great way to stretch your die! Such a fun sentiment, too. And, ohhh, the frame on your second card! Now I want absolutely everything you used on both these cards, but I'm being good for a while. Merry Christmas!

Wow!! Two stunners here Lol! Seeing that cup makes me want my old life back... I loved going to the coffee shop and just watching the world go by. Yupo is expensive here but I sometimes use the old printed acetate for stencils, I have some thick pieces that are about 12 years old and they work a treat.
Have a lovely week!

Two fantastic looks using these new PB designs, and the yupo used for a stencil has worked brilliantly and love the glittery cup full of yumminess, and the the twiggy sentiment frame with the added holly and berries is beautiful. x

Oh yum, yum. That looks delicious and that There is so much to like about this PB card. Using the stencil as a place for the cup is so cool and thank you for the tip about using Yupo for a stencil. Layering the branches together in different colors made a fantastic frame. Both sentiments are wonderful.

A great combination of various elements on the card. I love how you used the Scandinavian Christmas pattern to create a base for your cup. Amazing solution. The second card is a lovely wreath beautifully colored and I love the extra dimension in the card

What a delicious looking cup of coco, Loll! The shimmer & shine is amazing! I love the stenciled snowflake knit pattern. I never thought of using Yupo for stenciling. The details should be stenciled better than acetate. Thank you for sharing the info!
I absolutely love the wildwood frame! Your coloring makes them look so real. The holly sprigs are festive and make a lovely, colorful embellishment!
