Happy Mother's Day!

Hi everyone.  Happy Mother's Day to all those wonderful mother's that are celebrating today.  I made this card for my mom, who is 93! :)

This was a fairly simple and quick card to make.  That works for me right now as I haven't been feeling well, so I try to take advantage of short periods where I may feel OK.  Life has been challenging this year but I am hopeful that I'll be feeling better soon.

I started with a NBUS Etched Layered Daisy die from Simon Says Stamp.  I die-cut from white and sponged the petals with Abandoned Coral distress ink, sponging darker near the center of the flower and fading out to white at the edge of the petals.  I then sponged the center with Candied Apple distress ink, added a light coating of clear Wink of Stella (shimmer) before coating the center with Crystal Glaze.

For the background I used a 3-D embossing folder called Layered Leaves (retired by Stampin' Up!) with white card stock.  I sponged lightly with Shabby Shutters distress ink, darker on the edges, fading to light in the center.  I rarely think to use the debossed side ... and it turned out great!

I stamped my sentiment (Beautiful Mothers by Simon Says Stamp) in white pigment ink onto black cardstock and heat embossed in white.  I was going to add the thin strip over top of the flower but it just seemed lost, so I adhered the thin sentiment strip to a thicker 1" piece of black card stock and attached at the bottom.  Happy with how it looks.

Close-up ...
I'm sending this card to the Can you Handle the Pressure Challenge ... first time playing along. :)  This is an Anything Goes Embossing with Twist option (pastels).  I think by background and daisy petals are pastel, but not sure about the black sentiment banner. :)

Thanks for coming by!

A beautiful big flower with the gentle shading and glossy center. The debossed background looks great. I don't often think to use it, either. Sometimes by accident. I know your Mom loved this pretty card. I sure hope you get to feeling better, Loll.

Oh Loll this is gorgeous! You've used an embossing folder so your card fits the challenge beautifully! The pastel theme is strictly optional but you still fit that twist also. Well done!
