More Cover Die Eclipse

Hi everyone.  I've been away from my computer, which is unusual for me.  Sorry I have missed keeping up with visiting blogs, but we are getting ready to move in the next couple of weeks.  I've been busy packing and sorting everything.  We have been in our current house for almost 29 years, so you can imagine that we have acquired a lot of STUFF! :)  Hope to be back visiting your blogs on a regular basis in a few weeks.

For today, one more card using the Cover Die Eclipse technique at Group of Seven.

Please check out the details for the technique and link to video on the blog ...

For today card, I used a large image (Blooming - Penny Black) which is stamped in black and heat embossed with clear.  I sponged over the background creating an ombre effect with Distress Oxide Inks (Saltwater Taffy, Abandoned Coral, Aged Mahogany).  I used plain water to watercolour the flowers.  The water activates the Distress Oxide inks; then I used my paint brush to remove most of the colour, blotting with a paper towel to make sure it was dry.

I created two panels the same and die-cut one with Laurel Leaves Background Plate (Simon Says Stamp).  I cut two more panels with this cover die from white card stock and then layered all three of the die-cuts together with the stamped / sponged one on top.  I lined up the stacked dies over my second panel and then glue them together.  To finish I added a simple happy birthday (Special Sentiments - Penny Black) sentiment banner.

Close-up ...
As you can see from the close-up ... I wasn't very careful when lining up the stack of leaf die-cuts so you can see a bit of the white peeking out from the stack. :)

I hope you'll give this technique a try.  If you do, please join us by posting your card with the linky at the bottom of THIS POST.  We'd love to see what you make!

... and sending this to The Flower Challenge #90 - Add Layers.
Thanks for stopping by!

Love this! The colors are exceptional and FYI I LOVE the bit of white peeking out from the die cuts. It adds to the dimension. Whether accidental or on purpose the effect is super. As always, fabulous coloring of the image!

Good luck with your move. I do hope it goes smoothly!

Love your use of the water bleaching technique Loll, it gives such a soft effect to those blooms. Good luck with the move too, spring is slow to show itself here this year but I spotted the first swallow of the year this morning! :)

A stunning card Loll - love the techniques, and must pop over and see the 'how to' and give it a go.
I hear you about accumulating 'stuff' - I have downsized twice in the last three years - first to a rental, then to my wee apartment attached to my daughter's house...
Blessings

I am amazed at how you ink blended the two panels the same, Lolly! The colors are beautiful and I love the contrast with the flowers! Two techniques in one awesome card, my dear friend!

Another fabulous card using the eclipse technique Loll and so pretty using these three colours to get a sort of pinky red and the leaf die cuts work brilliantly over the top. I hope your move goes smoothly as I can imagine that sorting out everything prior to moving after that amount of time is a mammoth task, and I look forward to seeing you back here when you get comfortably settled in your new home. x

That leaf die was great for the technique, Loll, and I love the lightened poppies.
Good luck with your move. Not an easy task no matter when you do it. Be sure to pass on your new address.

Wow, outstanding card, Loll! I love the blended BG and how the die cut leaves give it so much dimension! All of your cards with this technique are wonderful, but I think this one is my favorite! Hope your move goes smoothly, we moved after 29 years and it's a process for sure! Sue N

You do such a perfect job with this technique, Loll! Looking at it up close it's rather fascinating. I love the pretty colors and your ink lifting technique. I need to remember to do this. I have a note somewhere. I figured you must be about ready to move by now. I know it's been a big job. It will be wonderful when you're settled and I'm happy for you.

OH!!! I so love this card Loll, the stamped image looks amazing with how you watercoloured it with DO.... I just think I might be 'casing' your technique as I was wondering how to colour a stamped image. And in all of this... you are packing house to move... thoughts are with you, it's a big task...hugs Robyn
