Magenta Rose Buds

Hi everyone.  Playing along with the STAMPlorations May CAS Challenge using the optional colour twist ...

Hard to see in the photo, but the background has embossing from a texture plate which adds a little interest.

I stamped and heat embossed the bouquet of rose buds and sentiment in gold, and then heat embossed the bouquet again onto some mixed media paper which had been watercoloured with magenta and a touch of orange.  Then I fussy cut the coloured blooms and paper pieced them onto my card front.

Super easy card that didn't take long as I had the embossed background in my stash (a gift from a friend), along with my watercoloured background in my stash. :)  Love it when a card comes together fast. :)

I used a snippet of paper for my colourful rose buds, so I'm popping into the Playground for a visit! :)

And even though this card is very CAS, it is also a CAS Mix Up card with heat embossing, watercolouring, dry embossing and paper piecing. :)

Thanks for stopping by!

With Love for Valentine's Day

Hi everyone.  I finally got a chance to make a Valentine's Day card for hubby. :)  I used the embossing folder technique to make my background.  I pressed a small amount of Festive Berries distress ink into the middle area of the inside (solid raised design) of my heart embossing folder.  Then I just added two little touches of Aged Mahogany as it's really a dark colour.  I spritzed with water and ended up with a mix of the red, pink and purple colours flowing over my card front.  LOVE IT! :)

The card stock tends to warp a little with this technique, which I embraced and enhanced by tearing all four sides to give it a bit of a grunge look. :)  I added double-sided tape in three small strips to the middle of the back of my card front and stuck it to the card base.  This leaves the sides loose creating dimension without using pop dots.

I didn't want to cover up very much of the background, so simply added two die-cut red sprayed hearts.   A simple stamped sentiment finishes the card. :)

Lots of love-themed challenges right now.  I'm entering this card into:

Stamps:  Rosebuds (The Bees Knees)
Paper:  White card base and front (Neenah); Watercolour hearts (Arches 140 lb. cold press)
Ink:  Distress inks:  Festive Berries, Aged Mahogany (Tim Holtz); Black (Memento)
Accessories & Tools:  Happy Heart embossing folder (Sizzix for SU!), water mister, Large Hearts dies (Simon Says)

Guest Designer at STAMPlorations

Hi everyone.  I'm so excited today to be the guest designer for STAMPlorations February Challenge - Stamps & Hearts!

I used the smallest flourish from the Distressed Floral Swirls stamp set to create a backdrop for my red foil heart.  I drew a heart shape onto my card front in light pencil and then used my versamark stamp pad to add in the flourishes, along the penciled lines.  I coated it with gold embossing powder and heat set --- so shiny!  :) I finished the card with a sentiment from the Rosebuds set.

Thank you to Shery and the wonderful Design Team for choosing my card as one of the their top picks for December and allowing me to be a Guest Designer for this month's challenge.  It's was lots of fun!  :)

I hope you'll join in this month's fun challenge at STAMPlorations and post your "Stamps & Hearts" cards!

This is also for the February CAS Challenge at Happy Little Stampers ... where the challenge is embossing! :)

Rosebuds Tag

Hi everyone.  Today is the start of a new challenge at ATCAS (#51), hosted by my very talented teammate, Vicki (All I Do is Stamp).  She chose this fun word ...

Prize:  5 digital images

Great code word Vicki!!  Had a lot of fun making my card using my new stamps "Rosebuds" from Shirley-bee's new line of stamps "The Bees Knees".

Watercoloured the background first, cut it into a tag shape, stamped and watercoloured the rosebuds and then finished it off with a simple banner sentiment and some ribbon.  Once I mounted it on my white card base, I thought it needed some texture, so I removed the tag and added hearts with embossing paste.  Just adds a little somethin' somethin' in the background.

We have a new Guest Designer at ATCAS for the month of November ... welcome to Linda L (Creepin' Along)!  We're so happy to have her joining our team.  I hope you'll take some time to check out her blog.

Please click HERE to check out the new challenge at ATCAS - TAG ... and to see Linda's fabulous tag card, along with all the other cards from our talented Design Team.

Hope you'll join in the fun ... the challenge is open for two weeks, so there's lots of time to play along!

Happy Birthday Shirley!

Hi everyone.  Today' we are celebrating Shirley's birthday (shirley-bee's stamping stuff).  I made a very CAS card highlighting one of Shirley stamps from her new line, called Rosebuds (sold at STAMPlorations).  Love this sweet little rose! :)

Shirley, hope you have a wonderful birthday and that this linky party brings you even more joy!! :)

I stamped the large sentiment in black and then stamped the rosebud (also in black), curving it to fit around the sentiment ... that's one of the great things about the clear stamps, so easy to manipulate! :)  I colored the rose with Copics and added a shimmery coating with my clear Wink of Stella pen.

I then placed a mesh stencil over top and sponged on some yellow distress inks to give the card some sunshine! :)

Thanks to Maria for setting up this wonderful linky party for Shirley.  If you want to join in, the link will be open for a couple of weeks on Maria's blog (reislingmama).  I hope you'll join in!
