Reminder - Christmas Kickstart Challenge #114 - Reindeer Games

Hi everyone.  I'm Guest Designing this month at Christmas Kickstart Challenge #114 - Reindeer Games.  I'm so happy to be working with Jo again ... she is so sweet and wonderfully talented.  Thanks again Jo!  

 

I'm back with a reminder card using a favourite stamp I've used many times before.  This little guy makes me happy. :)

He is stamped in black pigment ink, heat embossed in clear, die-cut with matching die, watercoloured with distress inks, and then a few finishing touches are added with crystal glaze and white acrylic pen.  It is popped over top of a piece of long retired SU! patterned paper and two torn pieces of white cardstock provide snowhills at the bottom.  The panel is popped up, and a sentiment (Season's Gifts - Penny Black) is stamped under the panel with the same black ink.

Guest Designing at Christmas Kickstart Challenge #114

Hi everyone.  I'm excited to be Guest Designing for Christmas Kickstart Challenge #114 - Reindeer Games.  Thanks for the lovely invite Jo!! :)  Get out your reindeer stamps, dies, or stencils and play along. :) 

 

I started with a really fun image from Whipper Snapper (All Tangled Up Reindeer).  I stamped and heat embossed the image in black pigment ink and heat embossed with clear embossing powder.  I watercoloured with distress inks and then decided to fussy-cut him.  Not sure why, because in the end, I put a piece of white cardstock behind him. :)

I used some older SU! patterned paper, gingham in old olive, as the background adding a sentiment strip of white at the bottom, stamped with Penny Black Christmas Sentiments stamp.  For the finishing touch, the panel was popped up for added dimension over the gingham card front, and I added crystal glaze (nuvo) over the lights for some shine and a little clear wink of stella on the Santa hat cuff and pompom for a little sparkle. :)

Birthday Cosmos

Hi everyone.  I made this card with three challenges in mind.  First, Inkspirational Challenge #374 - Word Prompt - Garden.  The second challenge is for Darnell's IDEAS calendar.  This week is embossing.  The image on my card is heat embossed. :)

And the third challenge from last week at Splitcoast Stampers, CAS911 - Gems.  I rarely use gems on my cards, and I had to wade through the box of lots of pearls and sequins to find this little tiny package of gems from Pretty Pink Posh that wasn't even opened yet.  I'm never sure of the placement, but hopefully they look OK. :)

I stamped the Cosmos in black ink, heat embossed with clear on mixed media paper and then watercoloured with my Zig markers.  Very fun and relaxing.  I used a new-to-me sentiment from Hero Arts - Togetherness Flower stamp set for the sentiment banner at the bottom.  I covered the card front with a piece of Pear Pizzazz card stock and popped up the panel for some dimension.

Christmas cards ...

Hi everyone.   Just a reminder of the CAS Christmas August Challenge - Sleigh.  The challenge is open until Aug. 31.

Smooshed a piece of mixed media paper and once dry, stamped my image in black pigment ink and heat embossed in clear.  Watercoloured using distress inks.

Two strips of torn white paper are added to the bottom for snowhills and a simple sentiment is stamped in black ink.  Splattered diluted white paint for falling snow.

Christmas Kickstart #113 - A Friend is for Life and not just Christmas

This is a reminder for the CAS Mix Up August Challenge - Stenciling over Patterned Paper.  The challenge is open until Aug. 31.

I used this beautiful background paper from Honey Bee, stenciling overtop with the Farmhouse Tree Stencil (Honey Bee).  I started with layers of distress Inks (Mowed Lawn, Rustic Wilderness) and let it dry thoroughly before stenciling overtop with Versamark and sprinkling with White embossing powder.  I heat set and also stamped and heat set the sentiment (Christmas Sentiments - Penny Black) as well.  To finish, I trimmed the panel down to size, allowing more white space on my card front.

July CAS Christmas Challenge - Snowman

Hi everyone.  July's CAS Christmas Challenge is Snowman, hosted by Linda.  I used this sweet snowman and penguin image from Unity (Love to My Heart), a gift from a dear friend. :)

I stamped in black ink onto mixed media paper and heat embossed in clear before adding touches of watercolouring with distress inks.  A super fun and quick card to make!  The sentiment (Inside Greetings - Holiday from Sunny Studio) is also stamped in black and heat embossed in clear to finish the card. :)

Snow Day!

Hi everyone.  Today's card is for the Christmas Kickstart Challenge #111 - Snow Day!  I've been so busy with setting up the CAS Challenges lately, that I haven't been able to play along as much as I would like to.  Thankfully, I had time today and, of course, who could resist having a snow play day! :)

The image is Fun Flurries (Penny Black).  This is the first time using this particular stamp from the set, although I have used the other.  I stamped in black ink and heat embossed with clear before watercolouring with distress re-inkers.  I added slight waves of soft blue ink in the sky (little hard to see in the photos), and tore a strip of paper for the snow hill.  I sponged more of the same blue ink along the torn edge and added some glitter for sparkle.  Clear Wink of Stella was also added to the bear's hat cuff and pompom, adding a little more sparkle as well.  The image is cut out using the matching die (Fun Flurries Cut Out - Penny Black).  Add the sentiment from Christmas Sentiments (Gina Marie Designs) to finish the card.

Hi everyone.  Today is the re-launch of CAS Christmas Challenge and we are very excited! :)  We have a fun challenge for you ...

I'm hosting this month.  I went through my Christmas stamps looking for bird images ... there is  A LOT! :)  The image above is my favourite Christmas bird stamp that I've had for several years.  It's called Snow Bird (Stampendous).  It was so sad when Stampendous closed.  I will always keep this image and use it every year. :)

The image was stamped in black pigment ink and heat embossed with clear embossing powder.  Distress inks were used to watercolour and add a faint outline around the image.  A simple sentiment (Shine Upon You - Penny Black) was added to finish the card.

Split Card Design - Group of Cardmakers

Hi everyone.  This month at Group of Cardmakers, we are playing with Split Card Design techniques.  There are two techniques which show how to make two quick cards in just over the time it would normally take to make one.

Group of Cardmakers

The technique used for this set of cards is to use a oversized  / large image.  I stamped Fragrant Florals (Altenew) in black ink and heat embossed with clear.  The matching stencils were used to sponge the image with distress inks.  Once the colouring was done, the matching die was used to cut out the image.  I used a white Posca pen to add a bit of detailing and then cut the image into two pieces.  

I mounted each piece onto an A2 white card base and finished off by stamping sentiments in more black ink.  These made lovely cards with only having to colour one image.  It is common sense, but I hadn't thought about doing this with my larger stamps before. :)  I'm really happy how these cards turned out!

If you don't have oversized stamps, a large stamp will make two cards with smaller focal panels ... see pink floral cards below. :)

This set of cards is stamped with Statement Flowers (Altenew).  I LOVE the size of these large, bold blooms.  I stamped onto mixed media paper, heat embossing in Liquid Platinum embossing powder.  The image was then watercoloured using distress inks before fussy-cutting.  The large image was split into two smaller ones and mounted on top of a panel / inside a frame.  It made two lovely CAS cards. :)

We Love Stamping April Challenge - Spring (2nd entry)

The other technique I'm sharing from this month's Group of Cardmakers is from Jennifer McGuire.  It's another great way to stamp two of the same image, colouring one and leaving the other with just the heat embossed outline, splitting the two in the same place and swapping out.  You get two unique and beautiful cards with just a little extra heat embossing and only having to colour one of them.  This helps build your stash of cards quicker ... especially if you use a CAS design for your cards.
