Hi everyone. I saw a card with this technique on Trina's blog (Phamtastic Design). I had to give it a try.
The above card main panel is dry embossed with Scenic Poinsettia 3-D Embossing Folder (Spellinders). I used an ornament die (Bird Ornament - Penny Black) to cut a piece of acetate and used that as my stencil for sponging Candied Apple Distress Ink over the embossed circle area. I cut the hanger from the same ornament die using Silver Metallic card and added some silver cording. To finish I cut the piece down to 4 1/4" square and used a silver metallic pen to colour over the berries in the circle. A simple sentiment (Merry Messages - Lawn Fawn) is stamped in black at the bottom.
Close-up ...
Sending this card to a couple of challenges:
1) Darnell's IDEAS Sept. Challenge - Embossing Folders - Darnell is closed this week, but I'm sharing a card that I made anyways. :)
2) Peace on Earth Challenge #72 - Anything Christmas Goes
Thanks for stopping by!

Genius!
Simple and yet very effective. Love the red and white and the silver finishing touches really make it shine xx
I think your card is just wonderful!
This is a great idea and the red stands out beautifully against the white Loll, and with the silver pen highlighted berries on the red bauble and a silver metallic hanger and twine as finishing touches, together with the lovely black stamped sentiment this is a beautiful card. x
What a fantastic idea, Loll. It would be so easy to make multiples of this design.
Love your card, and the technique is brilliant! A must-try!
Beautifully done, Loll! Love the pop of bright red and the pretty bling!
This is so cool looking Loll!! I wonder if you could stencil the circle first and then emboss?? I guess with the embossing I would worry about the texture impeding the stenciling with the ink maybe getting under the stencil? Obviously you made it work though and your card is CAS perfection my friend! LOVE it!! Hugs. :0)
Beautiful -- and such an awesome technique, Loll!
I love the effect of this technique Loll, super Christmas card. xx

Such a beauty with the stenciled bauble over the background, Loll - love the rich red with the white and silver!! The metallic dots and cord add the perfect finishing touches!!
Love the embossing and the die cut. A fab card. x
What a clever way you created that ornament. Now I call that creativity! I would never have thought to do this. And the card turned out beautifully!
That turned out really well, Loll! Love the stencilled ornament over the embossed panel. The addition of the ornament top, the twine, and the silver berries is perfect.
Beautiful Loll, I still really want to try this technique ♥
